Next Saturday weโ€™ll be celebrating Pride Month at parkrun. Weโ€™re delighted to have Melbourne Front Runners joining us and weโ€™d love everyone to show their support for inclusion by wearing something colourful or rainbow-themed. If youโ€™d like to help out, please let us know. And yes, there will be cake!

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ“ธ Volunteers Needed This Saturday! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Last weekend the Keogh family volunteered together, helping create the welcoming atmosphere that makes parkrun so special. Their smiles say it all!

Unfortunately, illness has left a few gaps in this weekโ€™s roster and weโ€™re looking for:

๐Ÿ“ธ A Photographer โ€“ everyone loves seeing the photos afterwards, and a phone camera is all you need.

๐Ÿšฉ Funnel Marshals โ€“ help keep participants moving smoothly through the funnel so everyone receives the correct time and finish position.

Thereโ€™s a role for everyone, and all volunteers are welcomed, briefed and trained on the day. No experience needed.

Can you help this Saturday? Comment below, email us [email protected] or send us a message.

๐Ÿ’– Without volunteers, there is no parkrun. ๐Ÿ’–

We still have a lot roles to fill for next week. It really does help immensely if people can sign up to volunteer at parkrun. The next most helpful thing is to volunteer early in the week. The roles we still need to fill include:

There were 188 first timers comprising 139 first-time visitors from other parkruns and 49 finishers completing their first-ever parkrun. 105 people recorded personal bests. Representatives of 63 different clubs took part.

Congratulations to Paul SHEAHAN on completing 250 parkruns. Paul commenced parkrunning at Albert Melbourne in 2018 and has completed more than 200 parkruns at this venue. Paul has made many friends through parkrun and volunteers once on average for every 6 finishes. Paul played 31 test cricket matches for Australia with a highest score of 127. We are excited that he has now almost doubled that total at parkrun. Well done on your parkrun achievement Paul and your contribution to our parkrun community.

Congratulations to Thea on volunteering for the 10th time - a marvelous contribution by a junior parkrunner.

A huge thank you to 5 marvelous first-time volunteers at Albert Melbourne including 4 volunteering for the first time anywhere and 1 visitor from another parkrun. We value your participation. You all made an essential contribution to the smooth running of this event and we invite you to volunteer again at future events.

Congratulations to Paris PO***CK, Lina MESA and Lisa LANPHIER on completing 100 parkruns.

Paul MCGUNNIGLE, Marcelo DALTO HILARIO, Nicholas TAMBUNAN and Sue BRENNAN achieved the 50 parkrun milestone.

Brett HILL, Tom MEADOWS, Finlay ANDERSON and Fergus achieved the 25 parkrun milestone.

Lucy, Willow and Marc completed 10 parkruns - a terrific achievement for a junior parkrunner.

Leading melanoma pathologist and 2024 Australian of the Year, Professor Richard Scolyer has died aged 59 after a remarkable three-year fight against the 'worst of the worst brain cancers'

Richard was also a huge advocate for parkrun, acknowledging the benefits of activity for everyone. Last year he did reach his goal of participating in 250 parkruns. Included in that were two visits to our parkrun in 2024.

We send our condolences to all Richardโ€™s friends and family.
