Our mission is not to deliver a service, to a group of people; our mission is to employ the platform of association and partnership to pursue and achieve continued positive professional relevance and im-pact, among professionals of African origin, on the Australian community at large. We are a Professional Association of African Professionals living and working in Australia and our aims a

nd objectives are:
1. To stimulate continuous improvement in individual professional performance

5. To serve as a forum or engine for advocacy on behalf of a cause or causes that may be adopted by the organisation
6. To create an environment amongst members that is conducive to personal, mental and professional development
7. To encourage in members a sense of responsibility for the society in which they live and operate
8. To encourage members to effect positive change in the society in which they live, individually or collectively
9. To enhance transparent dissemination of professional advancements in order to stimulate self- driven growth in a particular area of expertise. The African Professionals of Australia (APA) is one of the largest African organisations in Australia with a current membership of over 600. Founded in Perth, Western Australia in 2007. The company went national in 2010 and the second chapter in NSW was launched in June 2011. APA now includes members from more than 25 African countries. APA's membership is represented by more than 25 different professions. APA is a non-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to empower professionals of African origin to reach their full potential in their respective professions. This includes providing a platform to pursue and achieve continued professional relevance and impact to the Australian community at large. APA is governed by the Australian Corporations Act 2001, owned and managed by its members. APA is dedicated to the personal and professional success of African-Australian professionals and has in place several programs and initiatives aimed towards maximum utilisation of available resources to achieve its intended objectives. APA offers its members leadership training, professional development, mentoring opportunities, career placement services and more. The organisation currently has two active chapters in Australia, with each chapter governed and operated by an active and dedicated unpaid executive board of professionals. Alphonse Rutayisire is an accomplished Australian Computer Society Certified Professional (CP) with over 20 years of experience spanning the private sector, non-profit organizations, and the IT industry across multiple continents.
