Open letter from our Senior Women’s Coach: Cam Dickie
Dear Malvern City,
As my time at the club comes to an end, I’m left reflecting on what has been an incredible 18 months as the Senior Women’s Head Coach. We set out with 3 clear goals.
1. Keep women playing football.
2. Improve on last year.
3. Create pathways for our junior girls.
I’m proud to say we achieved our goals. We started the year with a squad of 27 women. We achieved the best league finish for a senior women’s side in the club’s history! We created links between the U16 girls and the senior team, giving junior girls the opportunity to train with our senior team and learn from our senior women.
These achievements were built on the hard work, dedication and commitment of our incredible senior group and support staff.

Yari, thank you for your passion and commitment to women’s football. You are a true leader.
Moni, thank you for being a great mentor, leader and tactician — it’s been a joy to work with you.
Thank you, Nick, Ray and Josh, for giving your time, driving success both on and off the pitch.
Vaios, thank you for believing in women’s football, never missing a game home or away, A true gentleman.
A huge thank you to the club, John, Harry, Peter, Manny, Tass, Sarah, Mike and all the volunteers that make it possible.
Last but not least, thank you to my incredible players who’ve helped to create such an inclusive and empowering environment. It’s been a joy to be your coach.
In 2023, Sydney hosted the Women’s World Cup final, which would become the 5th highest attended World Cup final, men’s or women’s, this century! The country was captivated by the success of the Matildas, who also achieved our country’s best World Cup finish ever. This is what’s possible when we show up for our women. So I ask, get down to that next women’s fixture, encourage women to pursue coaching, help create access, and show up so our women can continue to make history.
