YHA Cross Country Ski Club The YHA Cross Country Ski Club is a recreational trail and back-country ski touring club based in Melbourne. Costs are kept to a minimum on our trips.

The YHA Cross Country Ski Club is a recreational trail and back-country ski touring club based in Melbourne, Australia. It is affiliated with the Youth Hostels Association, Australia, a non profit making organisation with members of all ages. We are part of YHA Activities, an outdoor sports oriented club dedicated to the pursuit of activities such as bushwalking, cycling and canoeing, amongst othe

rs. The YHA Cross Country Ski Club is not a commercial enterprise - successful trips depend on participants' co-operation and contribution. During the ski season (snow permitting) the club organises:

- Day trips to cross country ski locations close to Melbourne, such as Lake Mountain or Mount Stirling. These trips are on trails and usually suitable for beginner skiers.

- Weekend trips further afield, to areas such as Falls Creek and the Bogong High Plains. On such trips we try to cater to beginners as well as more experienced skiers. Accommodation is in hostels or cabins near the ski areas.

- For those who are more adventurous or more experienced, weekend or extended ski tours, involving snow camping, are sometimes run.

The YHA Cross Country Ski Club recently hosted a successful beginner's weekend at Falls Creek. Our beginners acquired new cross-country skills in the Nordic Bowl area and inner trails. We had other groups enjoying ski tours out to Sun Valley, Mt Mackay and Pretty Valley.

Throwback to the Solstice weekend back in June 2121. There was snow!!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️
We had recently come out of a lockdown. We had mask and density rules in the lodge. ….
However that didn’t stop us intrepid adventurers touring around Mount Hotham summit.
Let’s hope 🤞🤞for snow this season so we can get back out there.

No snow?? Not a problem.
For our Solstice weekend we rented ‘Chalet Flaubert’ (B’Rush Ski Lodge at Mount Hotham) for an evening of deceit, treachery and murder. 🔪 Thieving, affairs, in**st, and poisoning. …but don’t worry,, YHA Cross Country skiing solved the murder!
We enjoyed good food, good company, a sauna and a hot tub. We swapped skiis for hiking boots 🥾 and even found a patch of snow and a waterfall.
