Ducks gotta eat too! 🍔 🦆

Melbourne Ducks are raising funds with the help of Grill'd Northland and their Local Matters program for all of August. 📍Just around the corner from our home rink iceHQ.

All proceeds we receive from the program will go towards reducing the players' fees for the upcoming AWIHL season.
That's right, playing the highest level of women's ice hockey in Australia unfortunately still means the players have to pay their own fees!

Simply grab a healthy and delicious burger from Grill'd Northland and pop your local matters token in the Melbourne Ducks jar, it's as simple as that!

What a team! Congratulations! 🏆

🥇 GOLD. VICTORIA ARE STEPHANIE BOXALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. 🥇

Victoria opened the tournament at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium with a 6–0 shutout of New South Wales, a 6–2 win over Western Australia and an 8–2 result against Queensland, before finishing the round robin second in the pool. Then came the games that counted — 3–1 over ACT in the semi final, and 5–4 over Queensland in the gold medal game to take the title and concluding a very successful first week of nationals following Victoria also emerging with gold in Defris!

Victoria stayed perfect on Sunday, July 12th, running past Queensland 8-2 while outshooting them 26-19. Sharna Godfrey and Bronwyn Cashin each racked up four points on the day, with Godfrey and Claudia Nusimovich both finding the net twice, and Cashin, Danielle Butler and Johanna Meissner also chipping in goals. MVP Bronwyn Cashin backed up her two-goal, two-assist night, while Claudia Nusimovich and Danielle Butler each added an assist alongside their goals.

3 for 3 to open the tournament. Let’s go Vic! 🏒🔥

Melbourne Ducks will be holding invite only try out sessions at iceHQ for the 2026/27 Australian Women's Ice Hockey League

🦆 Try out sessions will include both on-ice and off-ice testing

🦆 Eligibility: Players born in 2011 are eligible to play from the beginning of the season. Players born in 2012 may begin playing after January 1st. Development squad players will be considered from age 12, based on skill.

🦆 This is the highest level of Women's Ice Hockey in Australia, we would advise potential new players to watch last season's streamed games for a guide to the expected skill level. Development squad positions are typically reserved for younger players who have been playing for 2-3 years and are 12-24 months away from challenging for a roster spot. They are not intended for players who are new to the sport and currently completing development programs.

🦆 AWIHL season generally runs from November through to March with a short break over the Christmas period.

🦆 International import players are encouraged to sign up for potential interviews.
