Three things that stood out to me from the Mid Season Festival 👇
🔑 Match preparation is becoming just as important as physical preparation.
Players are now reviewing footage, analysing opponents, and building game plans before stepping onto the court.
A plan gives you something to focus on when the pressure rises. It may not always be the perfect plan, but it’s better than having none at all.
🏓 Singles now requires more variety than ever before.
Power, precision, and fitness alone aren’t enough anymore.
The best singles players are adding spin, shape, pace changes, and touch to create opportunities. The game is becoming much more three-dimensional.
My biggest tip? Identify your greatest weapon and build patterns that help you use it more often.
🏆 Format matters.
Rally scoring at the Mid Season Festival completely changed the feel of a match.
Every mistake immediately shows up on the scoreboard.
There is less time to settle in and every point carries pressure. Personally, I loved it. It was fast, exciting, and demanded your full attention from the very first rally.
The sport continues to evolve rapidly, and the best players are constantly adapting.
It’s been incredible watching the sport evolve over the last 24 months. The professional scene continues to raise the standard, and the best players are constantly pushing the limits of what’s possible.
If you’re not adapting to these changes, you’ll get left behind very quickly.
A huge thank you to the Niners for an incredible event. We definitely caused a few stirs over the weekend 😅
Thanks to Nives and for teaming up with me in the individual events, to and for continuing to provide the best equipment in the game, and to the team and .au for putting together another fantastic weekend.
