Athletes are humans.

One of the biggest mistakes coaches can make is only seeing the athlete. 

Performance is influenced by far more than training alone. School, work, relationships, sleep, stress and life outside of sport all impact how an athlete presents each day. 

The best coaching conversations often happen before the first set or rep is even completed.

Understanding the person allows us to better understand the athlete.

Athletes often adhere to what’s familiar — it’s human nature. Familiarity brings comfort, especially when it’s been successful in the past.

However true growth comes from digging deeper when something isn’t working — finding solutions, reassessing, and evolving with a trusted and supportive network around you.

Projection can often be a challenging concept to grasp, yet when broken down, it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. 

Projection is largely determined by body angle and the ability to cover distance in the early phase of acceleration. 

Here are some key points to help you nail your first few steps: 

✅ Project with purpose 
✅ Use the ground to drive forward 
✅ Create length through your hips 

Common mistakes: 
❌ Lack of intent or force into the ground 
❌ Rising the trunk too early 
❌ Stride length that’s either too short or too long
