The Melbourne Chess Club is proud to announce the 2026 MCC ANZAC Day Weekender, promising a competitive and exciting tournament for players of all levels!

📅 Dates: Friday 24 April – Sunday 26 April 2026
📍 Venue: Melbourne Chess Club, 66 Leicester St, Fitzroy
♟️ Format: 5 Round Swiss – ACF & FIDE rated
⏱️ Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move
⏳ Forfeit Time: 30 minutes from the published start time

💰 Entry Fees:
• $60 – Full Members
• $50 – Concession / Junior Members
• ➕ Add $15 for Non-Members
• 🎓 Free Entry for MCC Member GMs/WGMs, IMs/WIMs & FMs/WFMs, and non-Victorian GMs/WGMs & IMs/WIMs
• 🐦 Early Bird Discount: $10 off if paid by Saturday 18 April

Up to two half-point byes available for Rounds 1–3. Players requesting a Round 1 bye must have fully paid their entry to be paired. Refunds are available if notified at least 24 hours before the event.

The MCC Classic (Round-Robin + Swiss) begins Monday 25 August at the Melbourne Chess Club – and there’s still time to join the action! ♟️

✨ Two exciting sections:
• 9-round Round-Robin – for the top 9 rated players + 2024 Qualifier.
• 9-round Swiss Open – open to all other players,

🕐 Time control: 90 minutes + 30 sec increment.
📅 Runs: 25 August – 20 October.

In light of the lockdown, MCC will be holding a free online Allegro on the 12th of June for any player who wants to take part.

Tournament Details:

Divisions: choose from:
Premier (1600+)
Challengers (1200 - 1600)
Minor (Below 1200)
If your rating is above 1500 you may choose to play in the Premier. If you are above 1100 you may choose to play in the Challengers. If you win a division then you may choose to play in the higher division. We will use a local Tornelo rating, but if your ACF or FIDE is higher, we may use that to put you in a division.

Time Control: 13 minutes + 2 seconds per move

Time: Approximately 2-6pm

Forfeit Policy: If a player does not connect to their game 5 minutes after the round starts, the Arbiter will start your clock.
