Modern cricket is all about finding run scoring options/ areas.

Here in option 1 and 2 could be in a game situation. READ THE GAME AND SWITCH TO EITHER OPTION.

It could be at the start of the innings or death overs. But that switch is the most imporatnt factor here. As batters you need both at your training sessions. Build that confidence.

PS- most batters know how to do it don’t know when to do it.

WHATS THE PRESS?

At the release point off a spinner your front leg press forward/ staying low. It can be a good press or can be a subtle press.

WHY YOU WANT IT?

At some stage of your cricket there are lesser loose balls, so anything loose you pounce on it or making a good ball for runs is the way to go. To do this process PRESS helps

ADVANTAGES

Picking the lines lengths better because you don’t premeditate. Your movements are consistent and low at the release. Once you good at it without knowing your feet moves very fast.

(Stepping out is so swift because you have done the first step at the release already ✅

Can go back quickly because you can push your body weight better off the front foot to back when you have a press✅)

DISADVANTAGES

If you do it wrong / timing of it/ it can be a complicated movement which can slow you down.

It is so important before you as a coach comment and give proper instructions just to ask the players intention / thought process at that particular moment.

Use of heavy balls.(weighted balls). This will improve your bat speed and stronger positions. But make sure to do it properly. Have a listen.
