🏏Excited to see the Bulls Masters Luncheon returning in 2026, with Steve Waugh as special guest. Especially as it will support our own Mareeba Bandits!

It’s always one of the standout fundraising events of the year and a terrific opportunity to support cricket in the Far North while enjoying a great afternoon with the wider community.

A little piece of history to reflect on this Anzac Day. 🌺

During World War I, ANZACs often played cricket to lift morale and hold onto a sense of normal life. Using makeshift gear in camps and behind the lines, the game became a simple but powerful reminder of home and mateship.

One of the most remarkable moments took place at Gallipoli on 17 December 1915, during the final days of evacuation. Soldiers organised a cricket match on the beach at Shell Green, playing within sight of enemy lines. As shells occasionally burst nearby, they carried onβ€”using the game not only as a distraction, but as part of a strategy to make it appear that nothing unusual was happening.

It’s a powerful imageβ€”cricket played in the shadow of warβ€”capturing the resilience, humour, and mateship that define the ANZAC spirit.

Lest we forget.
