🎯 Loxton Hotel Open Prize Meeting – Wrap Up 🎯
Well, another Loxton Hotel OPM has been run and won, and what a weekend it turned out to be!
A good mob of shooters rolled into Loxton ready to have a crack, only to be greeted by a proper Riverland winter. It was cold enough to make you question why we play this game, and the wind decided it wanted to be the centre of attention all weekend.
Saturday wasn't too bad by Loxton standards. The wind settled down long enough to let the ri**es do the talking, and it showed with some very handy scores being posted. There were plenty of smiles around the mound, although there were still a few muttered conversations about "the one that should've been a centre."
Sunday was a different kettle of fish altogether. Just when you thought you'd worked the wind out, it'd swing around, come straight down the range, then disappear again as if it was having a laugh. More than a few good shots were turned into "where did that one go?" moments, and there wasn't a shooter on the mound who didn't donate a point or two to the Loxton breeze.
Despite the conditions, there was still some top-class shooting on display. A few possibles were recorded, proving that no matter what the weather throws at you, there's always someone who forgot to read the script and makes it look easy.
The Loxton R***e Club would like to thank everyone who travelled to support our meeting. It's always great to catch up with familiar faces, share a few stories, and enjoy a weekend of good competition and plenty of laughs.
A massive thank you goes to our major sponsor, The Loxton Hotel, for their continued support of our Open Prize Meeting. We'd also like to thank Maxord for sponsoring prize vouchers, Ziersch Custom R***es and Cold Logic for their generous cash prizes, Bill Traeger from Spectrum Stocks for sponsoring a trophy and cash prize, and Peter Larsen, who kindly donated some of the catering.
Country r***e clubs rely on the generosity of businesses and supporters, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who got behind this year's meeting.
Thanks also to all our club members who put in the work behind the scenes, and to everyone who came along and made it another terrific weekend of country r***e shooting.
Keep them barrels clean, and we'll see you all back on the Loxton mounds next year... hopefully with a little less wind—although we probably shouldn't make promises we can't keep! 🎯🍻
