A couple weekends ago the Loxton R***e Club held its final round of the 2026 Short and Long Range Championships.

That pesky Loxton wind kept the members on their toes but some great scores were still posted.

Have also got the overall results for the Short and Long Range Championships.

Big congratulations to Jason Gibbs who didn't drop a point in the Short Range Championships and got the chocolates based on centres, he also scraped in to take the Long Range Championship aswell.

Jason also took out the Short Range Sniper Points and Ray Pash claimed the Long Range Sniper Points.

Thanks to all the members who came out and supported the events, we hope you all enjoy them and look forward to progressing with them next year.

Loxton Shooters Enjoy Strong Results at Yunta OPM

Loxton R***e Club members enjoyed an outstanding weekend at the Yunta Open Prize Meet, bringing home several class wins despite facing a large field of quality shooters and some testing conditions.

Congratulations to Chris Aggeletos, who claimed the FTR honours after shooting consistently throughout the meeting. Rick Gibbs also had an excellent weekend, taking out Sporter Production Class Open, while Jason Gibbs put together a fine performance to finish Runner-Up Overall in the same class.

Congratulations also go to Loxton R***e Club Associate Member Malcolm Hill, who continued his good form by winning F-Standard A.

While the conditions varied over the course of the meeting, it was the final 900mbrange that really sorted the field out. The wind became increasingly difficult to judge, changing in both strength and direction, and it demanded plenty of patience and confidence in the flags. A number of good scores quickly disappeared as conditions caught shooters out, making every point on the last range hard-earned.

To come away with these results against such a strong field is a credit to the preparation, consistency and determination shown by our shooters throughout the weekend.

Congratulations to Chris, Rick, Jason and Malcolm on flying the Loxton colours with distinction. Well shot all round—we're proud to see another successful weekend for the club.

🎯 Loxton Hotel Open Prize Meeting – Wrap Up 🎯

Well, another Loxton Hotel OPM has been run and won, and what a weekend it turned out to be!

A good mob of shooters rolled into Loxton ready to have a crack, only to be greeted by a proper Riverland winter. It was cold enough to make you question why we play this game, and the wind decided it wanted to be the centre of attention all weekend.

Saturday wasn't too bad by Loxton standards. The wind settled down long enough to let the ri**es do the talking, and it showed with some very handy scores being posted. There were plenty of smiles around the mound, although there were still a few muttered conversations about "the one that should've been a centre."

Sunday was a different kettle of fish altogether. Just when you thought you'd worked the wind out, it'd swing around, come straight down the range, then disappear again as if it was having a laugh. More than a few good shots were turned into "where did that one go?" moments, and there wasn't a shooter on the mound who didn't donate a point or two to the Loxton breeze.

Despite the conditions, there was still some top-class shooting on display. A few possibles were recorded, proving that no matter what the weather throws at you, there's always someone who forgot to read the script and makes it look easy.

The Loxton R***e Club would like to thank everyone who travelled to support our meeting. It's always great to catch up with familiar faces, share a few stories, and enjoy a weekend of good competition and plenty of laughs.

The wait is almost over! The Loxton R***e Club Open Prize Meeting is happening next weekend, 4th & 5th July, and we're looking forward to welcoming shooters for a fantastic weekend of competition.

🎯 Round 2 – Loxton R***e Club Short & Long Range Championships

A small but dedicated field of shooters braved the winter weather for Round 2 of the Loxton R***e Club Short & Long Range Championships, proving that a little fog and cold temperatures are no obstacle to a day of quality competition.

The morning's short range matches were contested in cold, foggy conditions, with constantly changing winds keeping competitors on their toes and making every shot a challenge. As the day unfolded, the fog cleared to a cool, overcast afternoon, and the winds settled into a more consistent pattern for the long range events.

The standout performance of the day came from Jason Gibbs, who fired his first ever possible in F-Open—a fantastic achievement and a reward for the effort and commitment he's put into his shooting. Congratulations, Jason! 👏

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the range for the next round of the championships.

After combing through results from the last club championship round one thing is clear, the level of competition is heating up at the Loxton R***e Club!

Starting with the Short Range we saw a triple possible from both Rick & Jason Gibbs in Sporter Production as well as a possible at 500 yards from Ray Pash in FSB.
Center pins came from Chris Aggeletos and Ray Pash at 300 yards as well as Malcolm Hill at 400 yards.

Moving to the Long range where we saw possibles at 800 yards from Jason Gibbs in SP and Malcolm Hill in FSA, with a 223 no less! Well done Malcolm.
Centre pins were also recorded at 800 yards by Rick Gibbs in FO and Reece Pash in FTR.

The following weekend Both Reece and Jason travelled to Kapunda R***e Club to compete in the Tikka Cup Sponsored by Beretta Australia.
The boys put on an absolute master class in Sporter Production with the pair taking out 3 of the 4 range wins as well as the aggregate and top Tikka r***e!
The conditions were quite calm at 300 & 500 yards, however, in true Kapunda fashion 700 yards was a challenge. Unfortunately Reece recorded a 0 due to accidental discharge. To Reece's credit, he shrugged off the set back, pulled his socks up and smashed out a commanding 50.5 in challenging conditions to win the range and salvage 7th from 17 shooters overall, well done mate!

300y, 1st Jason 50.9 - 3rd Reece 50.7
500y, 1st Jason 50.10 - 10th Reece 49.3
700y, 7th Jason 48.4 - 15th Reece 44.2 tough range boys
700y, 1st Reece 50.5 - 2nd Jason 50.3

Round 1 of the Short & Long Range Club Championships was contested today, with shooters greeted by relatively mild conditions for the Short Range leg of the competition at 300, 400 and 500 yards.

As the day progressed into the Long Range matches at 700, 800 and 900 yards, conditions became far more challenging, with a gusty 9 o’clock breeze testing everyone’s wind-reading skills and consistency on the mound. Despite the tricky conditions, it was great to see some excellent shooting throughout the day with possibles shot by Ray Pash (60.5 500yds), Malcolm Hill (60.4 800yds) and both carding impressive triple possibles in the Short Range competition were Jason Gibbs (50.9 300yds, 50.5 400yds, 50.8 500yds) and Rick Gibbs (50.7 300yds, 50.3 400yds, 50.6 500yds) very well shot to all of you 👏🏼 👏🏼

It was also fantastic to welcome Malcolm Hill and his granddaughter Sophie along for a shoot. Both enjoyed their day at the range, and we hope to see them back again very soon!

A big thank you to Pete for serving as Range Officer for the entire day and keeping everything running smoothly, and also to Bruce and Glen for putting on a ripping BBQ lunch that was enjoyed by all.

A huge congratulations to Jason Gibbs on taking out 1st place at the Kapunda OPM this past Sunday in Sporter Production Class! 👏

Conditions were far from easy, with strong winds making for a tough day on the range for most, but Jason rose to the challenge, delivering a gutsy and determined performance at 700 yards to secure the win and take home the chocolates! 🍫💪

An outstanding effort and a result the whole Loxton R***e Club can be proud of. Well done, Jason!

PORT PIRIE OPM CANCELLED
