Another terrific turnout last week in some pretty average conditions — thanks to everyone who showed up and made it a great night.

It was a tight race, with only 1:45 separating the entire field. Taking the win was rising junior Ellie Waduck, who launched a late solo move from her bunch to cross the line first.

Fastest Time: Monty Manion, from a flying Scratch bunch averaging just under 46 km/h.

Race 2 of the Bums on Seats series was run and won last Tuesday evening, with 30 riders taking on the Oaks Road loop. Every grade was well represented, setting the stage for some exciting racing.

With 17 minutes separating the front and back markers, the A Grade riders had their work cut out for them. As the race unfolded, several strong groups came together in the final kilometres, setting up a thrilling bunch sprint to the line.

In the end, Alex Fowler powered home to take the win, holding off a fast-finishing Ben Mather, with Henry Youl rounding out the podium.

What a way to kick off the 2025 Bums on Seats season!
A strong and diverse field of 43 riders lined up at Bishopsbourne for Round 1, bringing great energy to the opening night.

The wind made conditions tough, especially on the way home - and every bunch felt it. The Scratch bunch of five faced an uphill battle, starting 17 minutes behind the front markers.

In the end, it was the B Grade bunch who worked together superbly, reeling in the groups ahead and arriving at the line together. In the sprint finish, Marty Simpson proved too strong, taking the first win of the season.

Points will be awarded to the top six riders each week, with standings updated regularly across the season.

A quick reminder, for this first block of Bums on Seats leading into Christmas, riders must turn 11 this calendar year to participate. This is an AusCycling requirement based on race distances and is completely out of our hands. We appreciate your understanding.

What a turnout for the first Bums on Seats of the season!
42 riders kicked things off at Carrick last night - an awesome start and great to see so many familiar and new faces back racing.
