Closed this Friday afternoon 11 September from 1pm to celebrate, reflect and remember Albert Navaro Taurian.
Albert touch the soul of all who knew him. He came to Tasmania the year I was born - 1957 and his first destination was Flinders Island. It was here he learned to speak his version of English - some not fit for publication.
His stories often seemed extraordinary and unbelievable. They may have been stretched over time, but the truth was close by.
Log trucks, Italian delicatessens, shooting, possum skin exporting, the first Launceston licensed restaurant, cheese factory, opera singing, Prime Ministers, Reg Ansett, Sir James Hardy and many who knew him have one or more of his fabulous dogwood shooting/walking sticks.
And anyone who enjoyed his 'lunch at 12.30 and don't be late' meals were lucky indeed. He was a wizard in the kitchen. Albert passed away peacefully 02/09/2026.
