🚨Trail Closure Notice – Sunday’s Race 🚧

Please be advised that the following trails/sections will be closed on Sunday for the BNG Sports Junior Race to ensure rider safety and allow the event to run smoothly:

❌ Oh What A Feeling
❌ Easy St. Lower
❌ Fruit Loop section near Easy St & Oh What A Feeling

These sections will remain closed for the duration of the event, so please plan your rides accordingly and avoid entering the race course.

Whether you’re completely new to mountain biking or looking to build confidence and improve your skills, our Beginner Social Ride is the perfect chance to get involved in a fun, relaxed, and supportive environment. 🌿

🚲 No bike? No problem! The club has a fleet of bikes and safety gear available if you don’t have all the equipment needed to get started.

Get ready for an epic morning of racing at Douglas for Round 1 of the BNG Sports Junior Race Series! Whether you're a grom or chasing a podium finish, we’ve got a course for everyone 🙌

🚦 Race Format

Intermediate: 4 laps
Beginner: 3 laps
U13: 3 laps
U11 & U9: 2 laps

All categories will race together with a staggered start (~1 min apart).

📍 Main Course (Clockwise):
Easy St → Fruit Loop → Creeks → Easy St → Cross to Oh What A Feeling at the gates → Carpark

🟢 U5 / U7 – Groms Loop
• Anti-clockwise on Groms Trail
• Includes sections of Fruit Loop, Pythons & Oh What A Feeling
• U5: 1 lap
• U7: 2 laps

🚴‍♂️ Tuesday Night Club Battles Are Here! 🚴‍♀️

Looking to sharpen the legs before the upcoming Push and XC races? Over the next six Tuesday nights, you can test yourself against riders from cycling clubs all around Australia in the AusCycling Esports Series on the free MyWhoosh platform.

AusCycling is bringing together clubs from every discipline for some friendly competition, and Townsville Rockwheelers is ready to represent!

Some of our members have already signed up, and we'd love to see more Rockwheelers riders on the start line.

🔥BIKE FIX TOWNSVILLE XCM 4HR – WHAT A DAY! 🔥

What was more challenging on Sunday... the race course, or eating the compulsory sausage on bread after your first lap? 🌭😂

A massive congratulations to everyone who took on the Bike Fix Townsville XCM 4-Hour. Whether you raced solo, teamed up with a mate, chased a podium, or simply challenged yourself to see how many laps you could squeeze into 4 hours, you should be proud of your effort.

The Douglas trails delivered plenty of fun, fast racing and some tired legs by the end of the day! 💪🚵

A huge thank you goes out to our volunteers, marshals, first aid crew, sponsors, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make the event possible. Events like this simply don't happen without your support.

⚠️ TRAIL CLOSURE NOTICE ⚠️

To ensure the safety of riders competing in the XCM 4hr race this afternoon, all Douglas trails that form part of, intersect with, or cross the race course will be closed from 12:00pm to 6:00pm today.

Please respect all trail closure signage and directions from event officials and volunteers during this time.

The closures are necessary to provide a safe environment for both race participants and other trail users.

We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation and look forward to seeing the trails back open once racing has concluded.
