Despite the early morning rain, 186 runners and walkers were not put off by the chance of more. The course was relatively wet and a bit slippy in places but the rain largely held off for a pleasant parkrun.
17 volunteers were there to ensure that parkrun went ahead as planned. They directed you through the deepest puddles and cheered you on throughout.
We're always looking for volunteers and there are still some places on next week's roster, so please get in touch, so that we can fill the roster well in advance.

Marshalling is a great way to cheer on our runners and walkers, while barcode scanning is easy to learn and a great way to get involved.

In spite of dark clouds at the start, the sun shone at the finish line and 42 participants recorded personal bests. Today amongst the many visitors, some of whom travelled from overseas, we welcomed members of Team Veteran who are involved with the Invictus Australia games currently being held in Scarborough.
Today's parkrun was well served by a great crew of volunteers who ensured that the event ran smoothly, including Lloyd, a London parkrunner who will be returning home tomorrow.

We'd like to welcome one of parkrun's community partners to Perry Lakes parkrun this Saturday, Invictus Australia. The Invictus Australia Sports Festival is being held at Scarborough Beach 23rd to 25th October.

The Invictus Australia Sports Festival is a sporting competition being held here in Perth, giving Australian veterans the opportunity to represent their country and compete alongside veterans visiting from New Zealand and the Republic of Korea.

It has a similar feel to the Invictus Games, but on a more local scale. Beyond the competition itself, it’s also an opportunity for the local community to come along, watch the sport, support the competitors and be part of the event.

For many veterans, sport can provide something familiar after Defence. It can be a reason to get out, meet people, have a go at something new and once again enjoy being part of a team or group.

That's where the parkrun fits in. It's a simple way of taking the Festival beyond the competition venues and inviting the wider community to be part of it. You don't have to be a veteran or an athlete. You can run, walk, volunteer, bring the family or simply come along and support.

Ultimately, it's about getting people together, getting active and creating a great local atmosphere around our veterans and the visiting competitors.

Once again the weather was perfect for Perry Lakes parkrun. Our band of volunteers cheered on the participants and fulfilled their roles admirably. Volunteering, like parkrun, is free and no previous experience is required. Why not try it sometime?

We welcomed visitors, including from as far away as London, and congratulated first timers and those achieving milestones.

As part of parkrun's community partnership with Invictus. We'd love to let you know about the Invictus Australia Sports Festival 2026 that is being held at Scarborough Beach.

We warmly invite you to come along and support Team Australia.

Australian veterans representing Team Australia will join wounded, injured and ill service personnel and veterans from New Zealand and the Republic of Korea for an international adaptive sports festival focused on recovery, rehabilitation and connection through sport.

Competitors will take part in Indoor Rowing, Pickleball, Sitting Volleyball and Swimming, demonstrating the resilience, determination and sense of community at the heart of the Invictus Movement.

What a morning at Perry Lakes this morning! Thank you to the 227 people who joined us to run or walk. We had lots of first timers, 5 parkrunners hitting 10, 25 and 50 milestones and visitors from Melbourne and London.

A beautiful sunny morning at Perry Lakes parkrun today, with plenty of lovely people out enjoying their Saturday morning.

As mentioned in the briefing, this weekend also marks 22 years of parkrun - 22 years since 13 people turned up at the first one in Bushy Park in London. Today, Perry Lakes alone welcomed 206 parkrunners and walkers with at least 6 brand new to parkrun and many visitors from Canberra, Busselton and Skipton in the north of England. What a special movement those 13 people created that we get to enjoy each week.

A huge thank you, as always, to our wonderful volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you.

We had a results hiccup this morning, but that has now been fixed. Please have a look at your result and give us a shout if anything still doesn’t look quite right.
