Tough day out there today. The birds are around, but I’m trying a few different things and seeing what works.

That’s hunting. You’ve just got to stick at it, try different things and enjoy yourself. See what works, see what doesn’t, and learn something every time you head out.

If you’re not getting onto the birds yet, or you’re missing a few shots, we’ve all been there. Practice, practice, practice. Keep trying new things and don’t be afraid to change things up.

It’s all part of the learning process, and that’s half the fun of it.

A family that hunts together stays together!

How good is this — a newly built swing down at Lambo Lagoon. What a great idea for the young kids, giving them something extra to enjoy while the family is out hunting and spending time together.

The Budd family are once again out there this season teaching their kids the right way — getting them outdoors, involved in hunting and enjoying everything the great Northern Territory lifestyle has to offer.

Making memories, learning along the way and having a bit of fun. Love it!

Second day back into it. You know your “secret spot” isn’t so secret when there are seven cars ahead of you heading down the same dirt track!

We still made a good day of it and picked up some good numbers. There are plenty of birds around, and they’re already getting into the native chestnuts. With so many hunters in the area, though, the birds were pushed up higher and became harder to work.

It’s still early in the season, so get out there and have a go. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

I finally kicked off my season—a little later than usual—but the geese were everywhere!

Darwin is holding plenty of magpie geese at the moment, certainly more than we’ve seen over the past two years. A great nesting season last year has really produced strong numbers throughout the Darwin region.

We had a fantastic morning and bagged out early. Joey was out hunting today as well, and Locky got his first-ever magpie goose. Good on you, boys!
