Childers Scout Group

Childers Scout Group Childers Scout group is a movement for youth from 5-25year olds to engage in experiences to build their self esteem and emotional growth.

We encourage youth to explore the world around them as well as build leadership skills and to help others.

* 1 meeting night per month.

The moment our Scout Den has been waiting for since it landed on this corner block back in 1963..
I came across a post last year with a recording from June 1963, the opening of this location, which mentions grand plans for a fence.. and here we are 63 years later having achieved that goal.

It happened with:

๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ The labour and ๐’‰๐’‚๐’“๐’… ๐’˜๐’๐’“๐’Œ of ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐€๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก Landscaping (0427 232 758) who did an incredible job and also donated the gates for us.
๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ And the organisation and coordinating of our ๐’”๐’†๐’๐’”๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’๐’‚๐’ committee!

I think I can speak for all of our leaders to say we felt instantly grateful, and a little more relaxed, returning to Term 3 knowing our youth are safely away from the roads ..and itโ€™s fair to say our Joeyโ€™s are pretty happy with it too!!

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Cent Sale 2026 was a huge success. ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ

๐‘ป๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’Œ ๐’š๐’๐’– to all the wonderful people that donated, organised, and attended our event yesterday. ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’Œ ๐’š๐’๐’– to the Isis club for hosting and supporting us. And another big ๐‘ป๐’‰๐’‚๐’๐’Œ ๐’š๐’๐’– to our youth that attended and ran prizes all over the room to the lucky winners.
We raised some much needed funds for our group yesterday and for that we are incredibly grateful!!

Itโ€™s not always easy being a community group, completely volunteer run, with the aim of keeping family fees as accessible to our local community as possible while still having big adventures.
It takes many dedicated, efficient and selfless people to make that happen.

So again, a Big THANK YOU to all!!

Our Joey Scouts have worked on this badge in two similar parts this term; they decorated cookies and cards that they gave to our visiting soldiers back in April. And drew pictures and cards for our local Police officers who have been incredibly busy lately keeping our small town safe.

Both parts provided wholesome conversation around ๐’”๐’†๐’“๐’—๐’Š๐’„๐’†, ๐’”๐’‚๐’„๐’“๐’Š๐’‡๐’Š๐’„๐’†, ๐’„๐’๐’Ž๐’Ž๐’–๐’๐’Š๐’•๐’š and ๐’†๐’™๐’‘๐’“๐’†๐’”๐’”๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’ˆ๐’“๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’•๐’–๐’…๐’†.

Today our Joey Scouts stepped out into Russo Nature Park for a bear hunt. We read and then re-enacted the book any chance we got.

There was everything from thick oozy mud, to river crossings (lucky for us we could go over it), hollow log โ€˜cavesโ€™, few stumble trips, 15 bears, and lots of fun.

We practiced plotting on maps and using the coordinates to share where the bears were found.

Iโ€™m sure there will be a few bear hunters sleeping soundly tonight. โ˜บ๏ธ

Not only did we have our own Scout section display in the pavilion, with a very cool campsite made by the cubs, but this year our Joey scouts also entered a decorated biscuit each and a plate of scones into the junior baking category.
And the results were:
