🏈 GAFAA appearance 4zzz Local Brisbane Radio!
Last weekend, our Chairman & Founder, Tim Chant, along with American Football Queensland President, Troy Wykes, had the pleasure of being on local Brisbane radio station 102.1 4zzz’s Ballzzz in the Air radio show!
Tim & Troy promoted the upcoming contact season. They highlighted everyone’s homefield locations, pre-season recruitment and season start date, as well as promoting the Sun Bowl game that will be held on December 12th.
Ballzzz in the Air is on 102.1 4zzz every Saturday from 9am – 10am, promoting and highlighting sports in South East Queensland.
🏈Ben Graham Special
This past Wednesday, local TV station 7+ broadcasted a special on Ben Graham, former Australian punter for the Detroit Lions & Arizona Cardinals. It was a fantastic look at Ben’s history & his lifestyle in the NFL, including how much of a dog eat dog world it can be. Some clubs will drop players if they have one bad game… brutal!

There’s only around 3 weeks remaining before the season starts!
Youth teams are in abundance and will be starting in 2 weeks, on September 19th!
Coming up this Saturday, former Seattle Seahawks superstar, Jesse Williams, will be hosting an elite training camp at Ballymore Rugby Union Club. Scouts from the USA will be there representing varying colleges & universities for scholarships!
The Southern Bowl in South Australia has confirmed that it will be held on December 19th! Three grades will he competing to find out who the best players in SA are!
We at GAFAA wish all competitors the very best of luck and a safe season ahead!
Moreton Bay Raptors are looking for any and all interested in the Northern Brisbane areas!
If you’ve ever considered giving American Football a try, all ages are welcome from ages 12+
We’re also extremely glad to see that there’s a big push in uptake of the women’s division in some states as well.
🏈Asia Pacific Club Championships
This weekend in Sydney, the Asia Pacific Club Championships will finally he held!
This tournament has the biggest prize pool a Flag event has seen to date, with teams competing for $5000!

Rams vs 49ers in Melbourne later this year!
The halftime show will be the world famous Jonas Brothers!
Very exciting, we’re expecting to see a great show!

Australia is still competing in the International Federation of American Football’s World Cup Championship in Dusseldorf, Germany! Australia has held its head high while competing at the top level. They’re currently in the strongest division, competing against the USA, American Samoa & Israel. American Samoa managed to upset the USA team, showing that they’re not unbeatable! Good luck to the team as they continue to compete!
In the women’s division, Canada has managed to beat the 3 time world champion USA team 26-20!
In the men’s division, the 7 time world champion USA team defeated Italy 46-26! Despite the 20 point difference, it was a spectacular, high quality game!
We believe that Australia’s Men & Womens teams have not qualified for the LA Olympics!
Brisbane Rhinos American Football Club’s flag tournament is moving ahead! Registrations are open to all ages, catering for boys, girls and adults! For those interested, contact Marcus or go to brisbanerhinos.com to register your interest!
