At GAFAA, we celebrate the vibrant legacy of American football (fondly known as Gridiron) and Flag Football throughout Australasia. Whether you’re a former or current player, coach, supporter, or simply a fan of the sport, we invite you to be part of a growing community dedicated to the game’s development and legacy. GAFAA is an alumni network built to connect and support the passionate individuals who have contributed to the sport across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Our mission is simple: to nurture and develop future generations of Gridiron and Flag Football athletes while preserving the history and spirit of the game. The sport of Gridiron has a rich history in Australasia, with countless players, coaches, and fans contributing to its growth. From celebrating local achievements to creating pathways for aspiring athletes, GAFAA ensures that the legacy of the sport continues to thrive. We are also working towards the creation of an Online Virtual Museum to preserve the stories, struggles, and triumphs of the sport in our region.

The Townsville Cyclones have begun advertising for any U19s looking to play next season!
Moreton Bay Raptors are looking for any and all interested in the Northern Brisbane areas!
If you’ve ever considered giving American Football a try, all ages are welcome from ages 12+
The Bayside Ravens have signed Chris Wedderburn. Chris has played at a high level in the USA, we at GAFAA are excited to see what Chris can bring to the local scene!
🏈Round 5 in Qld
The games between the Brisbane Rhinos & Bayside Ravens will be held at Norman Park, 31 Halifax Street, Cooparoo.

🏈Round 3 in NSW
The Ducks are on fire at the moment!
Tiger’s defensive line is also quite formidable!
🏈Gridiron Victoria
We’ve heard that the Victorian League has seen huge improvement, especially with the youth.
Bendigo Gridiron will be holding a demonstration game at their Rural Agricultural Show on Saturday 24th at the Bendigo Showground at 4pm!

🏈Gridiron West
Alongside Victoria, the Western Australia competition is strong. This is great to see from an independently run league. GAFAA would like to extend our gratitude and congratulate everyone on all their hard work!

🏈Flag News
In international news, Egypt has begun cultivating flag development by holding a flag tournament for all senior men & women’s divisions!
We’ve heard of a new Flag competition being set up on the Sunshine Coast! We will post more details as they become available!
Bring It On Sports has announced their new School Flag Gala Day Series! This event is going national with Brisbane, Sunshine Coast & Gold Coast events planned! Keep an eye out for further details as they become available!
Bring It On Sports is also known for their Shire Flag Football Event.
Shire Flag Football is held at Woolooware High School on Tuesdays from 4pm-9pm and is open to everyone from ages 6+.
There’s a new competition in Victoria that has recently been announced! The Melbourne Flag Football League is presenting an A grade competition and has already begun recruiting! This is an exciting development for Victoria! GAFAA Supporter’s Club wishes everyone involved a wonderful experience.
Every Tuesday Night from 5pm-8pm, Flag Football Gold Coast holding their 5th season at Greenheart Parklands, Robina, with mixed divisions for U12, U18 & Seniors!
We wish all involved a fantastic season ahead!
Brisbane Rhinos American Football Club’s flag tournament is coming up at the end of this month! Registrations are open to all ages, catering for boys, girls and adults! For those interested, tackle Marcus or go to brisbanerhinos.com to register your interest!

🏈Tackle News
The tackle season here in Queensland is well underway!
We at GAFAA are very excited for the next game of the season!
🏈Round 4 in Qld
The games between the Brisbane Rhinos & Bayside Ravens will be held at Norman Park, 31 Halifax Street, Cooparoo.
U12, U14 & Junior Men are playing at 3:30pm!
Senior Men will be playing at 7pm!

Last week’s Senior Men’s game featured Bayside Ravens go up against the Logan City Bears. The score doesn’t accurately represent the game, despite the massive score difference. The Bears have seen some real improvement compared to their last few games. In the end, the Ravens took home the win with a final score of 48-0.
The Junior game was was cut short when the Bears forfeited at the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately the Bears were struggling with injuries and a lack of players. There was a moment where one of the quarterbacks suffered a bad hit that almost spiraled into a brawl!

Some states have already begun their tackle season and others are starting within the next few weeks.
ACT, NSW, South Australia & Victoria’s respective seasons have already begun over the last couple of weeks.
