RESULTS- NPL Northern NSW Women's Preliminary Final Broadmeadow Magic versus New Lambton FC played at Alder Park yesterday.
⚽GSSGroup NPL- 6-3 Loss
Goal Scorer- Wimberly Wright 2, Megan Janikowsky
A tough night for the girls, where we always somehow ended up with the short end of the stick. We started very bright, with Wimberly putting us ahead after 15 minutes. Her thunderous strike coming back off the cross bar hitting the Eagles keeper in the back and in, and thats where your good luck pretty much ended for the remainder of the match. Wimberly got her double a few minutes later, no luck required, her classy strike smashed home leaving the keeper no chance. New Lambton would get a goal just before half time to send the girls to the break 2-1 ahead. The afternoon storm rolled in, what was a strong head wind in the first half had switched and there was no relief for our defenders as New Lambton sent it long and their strikers took their chances. Megans great header off a corner put us back into the game at 4-3, but we just could not deal with Tara's powerful strikes on the edge of the box. Game finishing 6-3.
Thats a wrap for Season 2026, we thank all the girls for digging deep, a season where we were expected to finish last , we showed the critics wrong by being one game off a GF, well done!!!
