WORLD CUP FEVER HITS HONIARA | The excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has reached Honiara as fans gathered this afternoon, 12 June, for a special alcohol-free parade to celebrate the opening round of matches. The Honiara FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Parade started at Bodo Dettke Field in central Honiara and moved through the city to the National Stadium in the east. The event was organised to promote peace, unity, and sportsmanship among football supporters in Solomon Islands, according to FIFA World Cup Fan Parade Committee. Local football fans came out in large numbers, proudly wearing jerseys, flags, and makeups to show support for their favourite national teams. Supporters of football giants Brazil national football team and England national football team were among the most visible and vocal groups, drawing attention during the parade. Organisers said the alcohol-free event helped create a safe and family-friendly atmosphere for all participants. The parade marks a strong start to World Cup celebrations in Honiara as fans prepare for the opening matches of the tournament.
