Sunday 8 November is the inaugural Qld Mountain Running Championships

REMINDER

2026 TRAQ MT GLORIOUS MOUNTAIN RACE = QLD MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPS

This year’s TRAQ Mt Glorious Mountain Race will officially host the Queensland Mountain Running Championships, in conjunction with Queensland Athletics! 🇦🇺🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

🔥 22KM — QLD OPEN MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS

With 22km of spectacular mountain trails and over 1,200m of elevation, the 22km race will be the battleground for the Queensland Open Mountain Running Championships.

But that’s not all, juniors we have you covered

⚡ 11KM — QLD U20 JUNIOR MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Entries are open for both distances with a new 11km distance, which will incorporate the Queensland U20 Junior Mountain Running Championships.

🏆 THE ROAD TO AUSTRALIAN SELECTION STARTS HERE!

As you’d expect from a Queensland Championship, the male and female winners of both the Open and U20 divisions will receive an incredible opportunity to head south to Hobart in March 2027 for the Kunanyi Mountain Run.

That event will also double as the Australian Mountain & Trail Running Championships, providing an opportunity to put yourself in the frame for Australian team selection for the 2027 World Mountain & Trail Running Championships (WMTRC) in South Africa in October 2027. 🇿🇦

✈️ For the four Queensland Champions:
• Return airfares to Hobart
• Accommodation
• Race entry
• The chance to compete at the Australian Championships
• And potentially race your way onto an Australian team! 🇦🇺

Also a big shout out to Australia’s own Mick Marshall who fell narrowly short of completing OCC finishing 52 of the 60km and 3000 metres of the 3500 metres elevation of OCC. The only bilaterally impaired runner at UTMB Mont-Blanc competing.

Here at Coastal High in the 28km Coastal Crunch we have Team TRAQ and singletrack_events Zack Newsham leading the men’s and hot on his heals are Team TRAQ’s Zoe Manning and Jo Hepton in a ladies race for the ages

And not to be out done our own Sophie Linn has finished in the Top 25 of the women’s OCC race with a 24th place finish.

She narrowly missed the sub 7 hour mark, but has made a big statement as one for us to watch heading into a World Championship year in 2027 for the short course distance. Well done Sophie 💥

A huge run by Australia’s own Toby Sparkes in the OCC race finishing in the Top 30.

Just missing the magic under 6 hour mark this is a real break out run by Toby. Well done mate

Wow just wow

If you did not watch this finish then make sure you watch the last 20-30 mins of this race on reply. And throw Sara Alonso into the mix as well who was only a minute behind Lauren and Naomi.

This women’s OCC race will be hard to top this weekend but I think the women’s CCC and UTMB races might go close
