"The industry sells dreams. Physics rewards maintenance.

Spend like you know the difference."

🚶‍♀️🚴 New research from Ireland's National Transport Authority confirms how investing in active travel can bring economy benefits. Here's how:

📈 Strong return on investment: €1.97bn invested in active travel between 2021-2030 is projected to generate €7.73bn in benefits
💼 Job creation: 26,640 jobs created during the construction phase alone, plus thousands more sustained across the wider economy.
💶 Direct commuter savings: people save money by walking, wheeling or cycling instead of driving, and cash goes back into local economies.
🏙️ Reduced congestion: less traffic in towns and cities benefits everyone, through smoother commutes and cleaner air.
✈️ Boost to tourism: better walking and cycling infrastructure makes destinations more attractive to visitors.
🧠 Lower absenteeism & healthcare costs: improved physical and mental health from regular activity reduces sick days and eases pressure on health services.

Active travel infrastructure is an investment that pays for itself many times over, benefiting people, the environment and the economy.
