Last week Thursday was our last Art Adventures for these holidays. We made some beautiful ocean mobiles from old paint samples and scrap paper, followed by some lovely sea-shell/sand pictures. To interupt the hearbreaking goodbyes, we made a giant (mess) picture with paint-filled water balloons.

Thank you to everyone who made the last two weeks possible- to my incredible assistant Loice Maposa, to the patiant artists at Village unhu, to my wonderfully supportive family, our amazing photographer David Brazier, to the parents of our little exlorers, and to the explorers themselves.

Don't worry- its not the end for Art Adventures! We will be organizing pop-up classes thoughout the year. Be sure to like our page to stay informed about when the next classes will take place.

Day 5 of Art adventures... It was city themed and we discussed the amount of waste that cities produce, so we made buildings out of junk and printed city skylines and their reflections using styrofoam packaging.

We started the second week of art adventures with a desert theme. we made miniture cactus gardens and giant desert paintings. With almost an entirely new group, we made lots of new friends today.

Today we explored snowy places. With lots of sensory and outdoor activities, it was a wondeful end to the first week.

Yesterday was Space themed at Art Adventures, and things got very messy in the studio with lots of sensory activities and a LOT of glitter. We made stars by flicking paint off toothbrushes, and planets with swirling paint and shaving cream, and printing with ballloons.

What a fantastic start to this year's Art Adventures! Today was Jungle theme, and in the true fashion of Henri Rouseau, the little exlorers painted brilliant pictures of rainforests, without ever having been to one. With inspiration all arround from the vases of rain forest plants placed arround the room, the jungle birds soundtrack that was playing, to the video projections on the wall of rainforests.

The holidays aren't over yet, mums and dads. There are still plenty of activities to occupy your little ones! why not try a bubble blowing picture? just mix non-toxic tempera paint with dish-washing liquid and glycerine in a shallow dish or tray. Blow into the mixture using a clean straw. Make sure to emphasize to the little ones to blow and NOT suck. (little Raif and Tanya will tell you that it does NOT taste nice). Then place a piece of paper over the bubbles and lift. Let them experiment using different colours.

Today was our last day of Art Adventures. It was sad to say goodbye, but we so much fun today, and we ended with a bang. thank you to the parents for carting the little monsters around. thank you to Loice Maposa and Anna Brazier for being the best assistants ever. Thanks to Dazzie for letting me use the studio. And, of course, thank you to all the little ones for being so good.
