It’s a sad thing when we see a CHILD who is afraid of the DARK... but it is even worse when you see an adult afraid of the LIGHT.
Afraid of growth, visibility, responsibility, and becoming more… If that’s you, you don’t have to stay there I’ll help you step boldly into your light.
This quote reminds us of something we see every day, not just globally, but right here in Zimbabwe.
As children, we fear darkness because we don't understand it.
But as adults, we sometimes fear the light… because the light demands growth, accountability, and courage.
And many of us, if we're honest, struggle with stepping into that light.
What Does "Fear of the Light" Look Like in Real Life?
1. Running From Growth
Sometimes opportunities come, a promotion, a business idea, a leadership role, but instead of stepping forward, we step back.
We tell ourselves:
"I'm not ready"
"What if I fail?"
"People will judge me"
So we stay comfortable… but stuck.
2. Hiding Our Potential
Zimbabwe is full of talented people, brilliant entrepreneurs, leaders, innovators, yet many choose to blend into the crowd.
Not because they lack ability…
But because they fear visibility.
They fear:
criticism
expectations
responsibility
success itself
So they dim their own light.
3. Fear of Change
Many people stay in jobs they no longer enjoy.
Stay in environments that no longer grow them.
Stay in patterns that limit them.
Not because they can't change, But because stepping into the unknown feels uncomfortable.
4. Avoiding Responsibility for Our Lives
Sometimes the light exposes uncomfortable truths:
That we need discipline
That we need to learn new skills
That we need to change habits
That we need to confront fears
And instead of stepping into that light… we retreat into comfort.
This is the Zimbabwean Reality. We see this in:
Young professionals afraid to start businesses
Leaders afraid to innovate
Talented individuals afraid to speak up
People afraid to pursue bigger dreams
Yet Zimbabwe has always been a country of resilience, innovation, and strength.
The light is not there to expose you,
The light is there to grow you.
The Truth About Growth
Growth is uncomfortable.
Visibility is uncomfortable.
Responsibility is uncomfortable.
But that discomfort is where transformation happens.
The tragedy is not that we fear,
The tragedy is when fear keeps us from becoming who we were meant to be.
A Gentle Reminder
You don't have to step into the light alone.
If you:
Feel stuck
Fear growth
Struggle with confidence
Know you are capable of more
You don’t have to stay there.
I'll help you step boldly into your light. ✨
