I take great pride in being a blueblood. In my circles that just means you were educated at Prince Edward School, which is one of Zimbabwe's national treasures. But my REAL desire is that Zimbabwe has, in each city and town at least 5 great institutions that are immersed in positive cultures and traditions that make them special and unique. These could be schools, universities, companies, sports clubs, churches, volunteer organisations etc. Having such great institutions builds an immense pride in a people. When we, as a nation then compete against others or have to build something we understand what it takes to do so and ensure we are the best. This is what will make us a great and proud nation.

Oh, by the way, ANYONE can be a part of a great institution. And when you join one just make sure you play your part albeit small in being great.

In his book, The Advantage, Patrick Lencioni says every organisation should ask themselves the questions in the attachment below. Focusing on adequately answering these questions will move an organisation from being unhealthy to healthy.

He also says: 'As more and more leaders come to the realisation that the last frontier of competitive advantage will be the transformation of unhealthy organisations into healthy ones there will be a shift in the mind-set of executives from more technical pursuits that can be delegated to others and towards the disciplines outlined in this book. Whether that takes place over the next 5, 10 or 20 years, I don't know. But it's coming'.

If you are an executive and you feel you are coming towards the end of the road in being creative or innovative and need a new impetus then you want to be answering these questions or better still reading this book.

Cristiano Ronaldo is definitely one of the best soccer players of all time. But lately he`s been in the news for all the wrong reasons. He criticized the manager and owners of Manchester United and went on to do the same with two of his ex-team mates. The question is should he ever play for Man Utd? Most fans would say no. But an even bigger question is what sort of club would still want his services? Hiring Ronaldo may get you lots of goals but it is a fact that he has become toxic. That is why he left Juventus. From a corporate or sports point of view is it ever worth it to keep a toxic person who is a top performer or are you better off with an above average worker who is a team player?
