RESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Central Province Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) wishes to address its members, club officials, players, referees and all stakeholders regarding serious concerns recently brought to its attention.
We have received complaints alleging deliberate poor officiating, match manipulation, corruption and collusion involving match officials, team officials, players, club representatives and other individuals connected to football activities in the province. We assure members, clubs, referees and stakeholders that these matters are being treated seriously. If left unchecked, such practices could undermine the legitimacy of football competitions. Processes have been initiated to ensure each allegation is reviewed and investigated. We reiterate our zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation, corruption, unethical conduct and collusion. Individuals with information are encouraged to formally submit supporting evidence to assist our investigations. Following these allegations, the Referees Committee has suspended match officials cited in the complaints. The suspensions are precautionary and remain in force pending the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
We further clarify that the purported resignation of a Referees Committee member has not been accepted.
Decisive steps have also been taken against acts of violence and misconduct. Club officials implicated have been suspended pending further investigations.
We remain resolute in uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability. Stakeholders are assured that the matter is being treated with urgency and seriousness.
All relevant committees and structures have been engaged, and the matter has been escalated through appropriate channels.
We call on all stakeholders to uphold fair play, integrity, professionalism and respect for the game. Football belongs to all of us, and its protection requires collective responsibility.
Further updates will be communicated as investigations progress.
