DEFENDING CHAMPIONS TOLIMA HAND NACIONAL FIRST LOSS ⚽🥇🔥🇨🇴

Colombian Football League defending champions Deportes Tolima handed Atlético Nacional their first loss of the new half-season in a game where the hosts regretted their failure to convert their chances despite having a staggering 61% of the ball possession. ⚽🇨🇴

Atlético Nacional thought they had equalized deep into stoppage time only for VAR to disallow their goal for offside. 🥇⚽ With this 1–0 home loss, they find themselves 5th in the table and lose ground on unbeaten league leaders Jaguares de Córdoba. 🔥🇨🇴

It's been decided now, it's official, Atlético Nacional are the 2021 Colombian Cup champions. 🏅⚽🇨🇴🇿🇲 Not like anybody in their wildest dreams expected Deportivo Pereira to overturn their 5–0 deficit from the first leg! 🏆🥇🇨🇴🇿🇲

Atlético Nacional's dominant first-leg display effectively put this tie beyond reasonable doubt to a point where Carlos Ramirez's late goal in the return fixture was much more of a consolation for Deportivo Pereira than a one that would strike any sort of fear into the eventual champions.

ATLETICO NACIONAL HAVE ONE HAND ON THE COLOMBIAN CUP

One hand on the trophy! 🏆🥇 Jefferson Duque's brace as well as goals from Nelson Luiz, Jarlan Barrera, and Alex Castro helped Atlético Nacional rip Deportivo Pereira apart in the first leg of the 2021 Colombian Cup final. 🏅⚽🇨🇴🇿🇲

The two-legged 2021 Colombian Cup final started well for Atlético Nacional as they ran riot and used home advantage to take a 5–0 aggregate lead at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín. 🏆🥇🇨🇴🇿🇲

With Deportivo Pereira looking to score an away goal, they were repeatedly caught on the counter-attack by a clinical, pacy, and athletic Atlético Nacional side, who should have had more but for some superb goalkeeping. ⚽🇨🇴🇿🇲

Though in command, Atlético Nacional will know that the tie is not over as stranger things have happened in soccer. ⚽🇨🇴🇿🇲 Despite a five-star performance, they will look to guard against complacency in their bid to complete the job at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas Stadium in Perreira.

A scintillating display by Atlético Nacional saw them tear Roma apart to reach the South American Champions' League third round. Andrés Andrade curled in Atlético Nacional's opener and Jarlan Barrera fired home before Andrade added their third of the night to grab his brace and finish off a superb move.

There have been many memorable performances at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium down the years but few can compare to the display Alexandre Guimarães's men put on here.

They were quite simply superb, and they did not let up after the break either. The 2016 South American champions will take on Libertad in the 3rd Round as they look to book their place in this season's Group Stage.
