Breaking: CAF awards AFCON 2025 title to Morocco after ‘Senegal forfeiture’

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Appeal Board has upheld Morocco’s protest and ruled that Senegal forfeited the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, officially awarding the match 3-0 to Morocco.

The decision overturns an earlier ruling by the CAF Disciplinary Board and follows an appeal lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) regarding incidents during the final.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FAZ CENTRAL PROVINCE.

FAZ Central Province Chairperson Chisanga P**e expresses profound regret in announcing the unfortunate demise of Kabwe Rangers Football Club's hired bus driver, Sam Lungu, in a tragic accident. The accident occurred on Sunday, 15th March 2026, whilst the team was en route to Serenje for a week 25 fixture against Silverlands, resulting in injuries to three football players, namely Christopher Musakanya, Given Sichamba, and John Kombe, as well as club secretary Karen Namukoko and coach Lewis Nkandu. Following the incident,
FAZ Central Province Chairperson Chisanga P**e, together with General Secretary Maxwell Shaba, proceeded to the accident scene and Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital to assess the situation and offer support to the victims. Mr. P**e has extended his sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased driver and wishes them strength during this difficult period, while also conveying wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured individuals. Further details regarding the cause of the accident will be communicated by the Police.
