ZAVA REINFORCES GOVERNANCE STRUCTURES TO DRIVE VOLLEYBALL DEVELOPMENT.

Lusaka, Zambia - April 9, 2026 - The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) Executive Board is placed to announce key appointments aimed at strengthening governance and promoting volleyball
development across the country.

GENDER MINORITY BOARDER MEMBER: Madam Lily Ngosa has been appointed as Gender Minority Representative on the ZAVA Board, focusing on inclusivity and diversity. Her role will ensure ZAVA's policies and programs cater to all genders by fostering a more inclusive volleyball environment.

ATHLETES COMMISSION: Miss Beene Matongo of UNZA Volleyball Club has been appointed Athletes Commission Chairperson, representing athletes' interests. She will work closely with ZAVA
to address player concerns, promote athlete welfare, and enhance engagement.

FORMATION OF A NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE COMMITTEE: A first ever National Volleyball League Committee has been formed, comprising Elton Nthawe (Chairperson), Chesekela Gift (Vice
Chairperson), and Manda Timothy (Fixtures Secretary). The committee will promote inclusivity and manage disputes in the management of the National League by overseeing daily operations of the National Volleyball League with key responsibilities of : Managing the league operations and ensure smooth fixture ex*****on schedules, Ensure compliance with FIVB and CAVB regulations, Coordinate with clubs, referees, and stakeholders, Provide support and guidance to ZAVA Board and Club.

 Elton Nthawe (Chairperson): Leads league operations, ensuring smooth ex*****on of fixtures and adherence to regulations.

 Chesekela Gift (Vice Chairperson): Supports the chair and focuses on club relations and dispute resolution.

 Manda Timothy (Fixtures Secretary): Handles scheduling, logistics, and coordination of league matches.

UNDER 20 TECHNICAL TEAM CHANGES:

 Mr. Isikanda Mwauluka of Iconix Volleyball Club Mongu is appointed Head Coach, Under 20 Boys National Team and be assisted by Mr. Festus Handavu of Mwinilunga Volleyball Club in Mwinilunga and Mr. Rodgers Chishimba of Chridgers Volleyball Club of Lusaka.

 Miss Iness Mupata of Mpika Volleyball Club joins the under 20 girls National team as second assistant coach to support the girls technical bench.

We believe these appointments will drive positive change and development in Zambian volleyball.

As a Board, We are confident in their abilities to promote inclusivity, resolve challenges, and elevate our sport.

ZAVA CONCLUDES VOLLEYBALL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME IN KATETE

22 March,2026.

The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) Volleyball Empowerment – Knowledge Transfer Programme successfully concluded in Katete on March 22, 2026. Following three days of intensive training in refereeing, coaching, and sports administration, the initiative reached a significant milestone with 43 participants successfully completing the course requirements.

The closing ceremony served as a celebration of the dedication shown by the local sports community. Each of the 43 graduates was awarded a formal certificate of completion, symbolizing their transition from students to qualified ambassadors of the sport. This cohort now joins a growing national network of skilled officials tasked with elevating the standards of volleyball within their respective regions.

ZAVA extends its profound gratitude to the Guest of Honor, Dr. Abel Shawa, the District Commissioner’s office, the course instructors, and the Local Organizing Committee for their tireless efforts in making this program a resounding success.

With five provinces now successfully covered; Western, North-Western, Muchinga, Northern, and now Eastern, the association looks toward its next destination: Luapula Province in May.

Day 1 – Knowledge Transfer Programme, Katete District, Eastern Province.

March 20, 2026.

The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) officially launched its Volleyball Empowerment – Knowledge Transfer Programme on March 20, 2026, in Katete, Eastern Province. This three-day intensive workshop, running through March 22, marks a strategic milestone in the association’s mission to decentralize sports excellence and provide modern technical skills to officials, coaches, and administrators across the nation.

The ceremony was officially opened by Dr. Abel Shawa, who served as the Guest of Honor on behalf of the District Commissioner. In his keynote address, Dr. Shawa emphasized that the initiative perfectly aligns with the government’s vision for grassroots empowerment and human resource development. He noted that the Eastern Province, with its vibrant and youthful population, is ideally positioned to benefit from such high-level training in refereeing, coaching, and sports administration.

In a speech read by 1st Vice-president Technical Mr. Mweemba Martin Lloyd on behalf of ZAVA President Mr. Samuel Cosmas Sinyinza, highlighted the program's success following its initial rollout in 2025. Having already covered the Western, North Western, Muchinga, and Northern provinces. "This programme is a milestone in our efforts to develop volleyball in Zambia," stated Mr. Mweemba on behalf of the President. "Aligning with the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment philosophy, we aim to empower our officials with modern skills... your growth is Zambia’s growth in volleyball."

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Shawa, commended the dedication of the ZAVA Executive Board and the Local Organizing Committee. He reminded participants that volleyball is built on the pillars of skill, strategy, and teamwork. He urged the attendees to "seize this opportunity to learn, share, and grow," noting that the knowledge transferred during these sessions would create lasting career growth and economic opportunities within the Katete District.

The opening ceremony concluded with a call to action for all participants to take full advantage of the expertise provided by the course directors and instructors. As the program continues through the weekend, the focus remains clear: to foster community, inspire excellence, and ensure that the impact of this training is felt in every corner of Zambian volleyball.

ZAVA TO EMPOWER EASTERN PROVINCE THROUGH KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PROGRAMME

Lusaka, 18th March 2026.

The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) is set to host a capacity building training program which has attracted over 70 participants from across 7 districts of Eastern Province in volleyball refereeing, coaching, and administration from Friday, 20th March 2026 to Sunday, 22nd March 2026 at Katete Mphangwe Motel.

The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday, 20th March 2026 at 15:00 hours and will be graced by distinguished guests including the District Commissioner, Council Secretary, Provincial Sports Coordinator, and District Sports Coordinators of Eastern Province among other invited guests.

This initiative is part of ZAVA's ongoing Knowledge Transfer Empowerment programme, aimed at developing volleyball in all 10 provinces. Four provinces have already benefited from the ZAVA Volleyball Empowerment Knowledge Transfer Programme: Western, North Western, Muchinga, and Northern Provinces. The Eastern Province Knowledge Transfer Programme is being led by the Course Director, ZAVA Refereeing Commission Chairperson and international referee Mr. Chesekela Gift, with FIVB Level 3 Coach Mr. Arnold Simulezi, FIVB trained administrator Mr. Mweemba Martin Lloyd as Instructors.

Such programs are crucial for ZAVA as they contribute significantly to the development of volleyball in Zambia, aligning with the government's sports policy objectives. By empowering stakeholders with knowledge and skills, ZAVA supplements government efforts to promote sports development, enhance community engagement, and foster national growth.

The program aligns with ZAVA's vision to promote volleyball growth and development, as highlighted at the recent elective congress where the association reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, integrity, and teamwork. ZAVA President Mr. Samuel Cosmas Sinyinza leads the association in driving this vision.

Following the Eastern Province program, ZAVA will conduct a referee course in North Western Province in April 2026 under North Western Province Volleyball Association partnership, and conclude the year with Luapula Province in Mansa in May 2026 for the ZAVA Volleyball Empowerment Knowledge Transfer for this Year.

ZAVA invites all stakeholders and volleyball enthusiasts to take note of these important events. The association remains committed to empowering communities and promoting volleyball development across Zambia.

ZAVA EXECUTIVE BOARD PAYS COURTESY CALL ON NORTH WESTERN PROVINCE PERMANENT SECRETARY COL. GLADSON WISHIKOTI KATAMBI (RTD)

Solwezi, March 6, 2026 – The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) Executive Board, led by President Mr. Samuel Cosmas Sinyinza, paid a courtesy call on the North Western Province Permanent Secretary, Col. Gladson Wishikoti Katambi (RTD), today at his office in Solwezi, North Western Province.

The visit was aimed at expressing appreciation for the Permanent Secretary's unwavering support to the North Western Province Volleyball Association (NWEVA) and the development of volleyball in the province. The ZAVA team, which included First Vice President Technical Mr. Mweemba Martin Lloyd and Third Vice President for Administration Col. William Nyambe Mululu including leaders from the Solwezi Ackers club. The board members, reiterated their commitment to continue working closely with the government and his office to promote sports development in the province and the country at large.

The president indicated that they are grateful for the enabling environment created by Col. Katambi's office, which has allowed volleyball to thrive in the province. They pledged to continue supporting the government in all areas of sports development, particularly in volleyball, and look forward to exploring partnerships that will benefit all the districts in the province.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the ZAVA team to explore alternative partnerships with various stakeholders in the province, with a view to enhancing volleyball development and promoting sports excellence.

The President and ZAVA board members are in the province for a two-day working visit and are scheduled to return this Sunday, 8th March 2026, in Lusaka. The delegation commends the North Western Provincial Volleyball Association for their tireless efforts in promoting volleyball in the province and assures them of continued support.

ZAVA DATES NATIONAL FEDERATIONS GOVERNANCE FORUM

Lusaka, 24th February 2026 - The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) joined other national sports federations at the two-day Governance Forum for National Sports Federations at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka. The forum, themed "The Year of the Sports Revolution: Scaling Up Good Governance in Zambia's Sports," was graced by Honourable Elvis C. Nkandu, MP, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts.

Representing ZAVA was Ms. Lilly Ngosa, a current EXCO member. The forum emphasized accountability and adherence to the law in sports administration, with Minister Nkandu warning that disciplinary measures would be taken against individuals and associations disregarding the Sports Council Act and federation constitutions.

"Government will not tolerate any disregard for the Sports Council Act and federation constitutions. National sport federations are public institutions and must conduct their affairs transparently, particularly during electoral processes," Minister Nkandu stated.

Ms Ngosa, is current gender minority board member.
