Esther Mumba Delivers Bold Statement As Eagles Beat CSF

Esther Mumba,Susan Mulungwa and five summer signings all made key contributions as Eagles continued their build-up to the upcoming transitional season.

Albert Joel Mphande’s troops have intensified their pre-season preparations with a series of friendlies against Division 1 side Canoon Sports Foundation, as familiar faces and new arrivals combined to produce an encouraging result ahead of the new campaign in a fixture played behind closed doors.

Speaking shortly after the game, Esther Mumba stated “so far so good, we are getting there.”

She further highlighted that Eagles is adequately prepared and is hungry for the new season to begin, stating “we are just waiting for the league to start, otherwise we are ready and everyone is ready.”

“We have to work as a team in order to accomplish our targets because our objective is to finish as number one.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Eagles will continue to play pre-season matches just to put in minutes. Then, our Zambian Women’s Super League campaign begins with a home game against newly promoted side AmeZam Tamanga Queens at 15hrs on Saturday, September 26.

MUMA THE MAJESTIC EAGLES OF LUSAKA’S SECRET WEAPON

Judging by his trajectory, coach Lenon Muma has had a career that most players can only dream of. He played for Nkana, Red Arrows, Napsa Stars, Zanaco, and Lusaka Dynamos, to mention a few, but it was at Green Eagles that he would eventually settle.

When the time came to hang up his boots, his passion for the game saw him transition into coaching.

The biggest highlight of his career as a mentor came last season when GEWFC shot stopper Loveness Tonge kept the highest clean sheets in the League with 19.

He brings a plethora of experience having played for a good number of clubs, May your day be error-free and your year be filled with as many clean sheets as the ones you taught us to save, happy birthday to a legend.
