🇿🇲 ZAMBIA REPRESENTED AT INTERNATIONAL MMA YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS BY TWO OFFICIALS IN ABU DHABI

International Mixed Martial Arts official Malachy McAllister, Zambia’s top MMA official, alongside Ndu Ndu of Kopala Warriors, are the two Zambian officials present at the International Mixed Martial Arts Youth Championships 2026 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Zambia was expected to have representation on both the competition and officiating sides. However, the Zambian youth team was unfortunately unable to travel due to resource constraints.

Despite this setback, McAllister and Ndu Ndu are flying the Zambian flag through their roles in officiating at the international championships. 🇿🇲🥋

Leading MMA Forward

Our Technical Director, Nazia M***a Alloo, paid a courtesy call in Kitwe and had the opportunity to engage with Kopala Warriors MMA, where she was invited to observe their training session and technical demonstrations.

As an association, our priority remains athlete welfare, quality coaching, technical development, safeguarding and creating a structured pathway for athletes to progress within Mixed Martial Arts. Seeing our clubs on the ground, engaging with coaches and athletes, and understanding their needs is an important part of strengthening the sport from the grassroots upwards.

Following the training session, Ms Nazia also led the team to The Copperbelt University (CBU) Sports Day which was also graced by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and the National Sports Council of Zambia - NSCZ , where Kopala Warriors showcased MMA to students and the wider university community.

MMA is a fast-growing sport in Zambia, and opportunities such as these are vital in increasing visibility, developing talent and introducing more young people to a disciplined, structured and increasingly competitive sporting pathway.

From the gym to the university field, we are building the future of MMA, one athlete, one coach and one club at a time.

MMA ZAMBIA WITHDRAWS YOUTH TEAM FROM 2026 IMMAF YOUTH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

13 August 2026 | Lusaka, Zambia

MMA Zambia regrets to announce the withdrawal of its six youth athletes scheduled to represent Zambia at the 2026 IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 16–23 August 2026.

Despite extensive efforts to mobilise the resources required, we have unfortunately been unable to secure the necessary funding within the timeframe required to ensure the team travels safely, adequately prepared and in good time for the Championships.

This has been an extremely difficult decision, particularly considering the tremendous commitment, sacrifice and hard work demonstrated by our young athletes throughout their preparation.

MMA Zambia sincerely apologises to the athletes, their families, coaches and clubs who have invested so much into this journey. We also extend our appreciation to all our stakeholders, including the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts and the National Sports Council of Zambia, for their continued engagement and support of the development of Mixed Martial Arts in Zambia.

We further recognise that this period coincides with Zambia’s 2026 General Election, an important national undertaking which has naturally commanded significant national attention and resources.

While we are deeply disappointed that our young athletes will not compete on the world stage this year, this is a setback - not the end of their journey. MMA Zambia remains fully committed to developing our youth programme and providing our young athletes with future opportunities to represent Zambia internationally.

We wish IMMAF, the organisers and every participating nation and athlete a safe and successful Youth World Championships.

Zambia will be back - stronger, better prepared and ready to compete. 🇿🇲

In a historic first for MMA Zambia two IMMAF - International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Officials from the same club will be present to represent Zambia at the 2026 IMMAF Youth Worlds in Abu Dhabi.

Ndu Ndu who qualified at the 2024 IMMAF African Championship in M M A Namibia Federation hosted event, since then he has been a solid regular within various home events in Zambia and the first Zambian Official to work a PFL MMA event.

This year Ndu was also a member of the Officials team for the 2026 IMMAF African Championships in Angolan and greatly impressed all across the board with his hard work, professional attitude and commitment to his fellow Officials.
Ndu is also involved in youth development with the Kopala Warriors boxing club, he is a true patriot and servant of Zambia.

Once again leading the way and representing Zambia will be IMMAF International Amateur and Pro Official Coach Malachy McAllister.
MMA Zambia's first international qualified Official and first ever member of IMMAF's African Sub Committee, who has represented his Association and country countless times at many different events around the world including EFC and PFL.

He has laid down the pathway for other Zambian officials and is always committed to the development and promotion of MMA in Zambia through his work as an Official, club founder and constant sponsor in numerous sporting occasions from MMA, Boxing, Taekwondo and Karate.

Would like to add a special word of thanks and appreciation to the National Sports Council of Zambia - NSCZ , Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, MP and Kangwa Chileshe for all the support they have soon our sport.

Today our kids are off to the COBA Boxing event at Power Stadium in Kitwe for the Copperbelt Amateur boxing league fights.

Coach Nathan Mufwaya will once again lead a team of 10 warriors to continue the teams recent successes!

Let's all show our support for all the fighters competing today, the youths are the future!

Congratulations to the Liger Perfecto on yet another impressive performance and another win by submission at ZNAL 11.

Making Perfecto one of the only fighters in Zambia to have the highest fights to submission ratio in Zambia! Coming straight from Bronze medal success in Angola to remind us all who he is!

We would like to make a special word of thanks and gratitude to KABWE TOP Team MMA Ktt for all your support and accommodation, you have shown us all the true spirit of martial arts and Zambian Brotherhood and make no mistake, you've always got a home in Kitwe!
