ONE DEAD IN KASAMA MOTORBIKE–TOYOTA VITZ COLLISION
The Zambia Police Service in Northern Province has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Monday evening, claiming the life of a young motorcyclist.
The incident took place around 19:50 hours near Oxygen Fitness Gym along the Kasama–Mungwi road.
The deceased has been identified as Prince Siame, aged 26, of Namulundu Village under Chief Mwamba in Kasama District. He was riding an unregistered Kinglion motorbike from east to west, heading from Mungwi into Kasama town.
According to police reports, Siame sustained fatal head injuries and died at the scene. The motorbike suffered a damaged engine, deformed front frame, and broken handlebars.
The second vehicle involved was a Toyota Vitz, registration number APB 4760, driven by Kabamba Joseph, aged 23, of Mulenga Hills Township in Kasama District. He was travelling from west to east – from Kasama town toward Mungwi – and escaped unhurt. The Vitz sustained a deflated front right tyre.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the motorcyclist lost control under unknown circumstances and collided with the oncoming Toyota Vitz.
The body of Prince Siame has been deposited at Kasama General Hospital Mortuary, pending a postmortem examination. Both the motorbike and the Toyota Vitz have been impounded at Kasama Police Station as investigations continue.
The Zambia Police Service has strongly condemned reckless riding and driving by both motorcyclists and motorists, warning that such irresponsible conduct continues to pose a serious threat to other road users – and often results in severe injuries or tragic loss of life.
Police have urged all road users to exercise caution, obey traffic rules, and prioritise safety at all times.
