A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our

The Indaba focused on the production of onion, cabbage, and tomato, taking participants through key practices for successful and profitable vegetable production. Topics covered included land preparation, plant population calculation, plant nutrition, and crop protection.

Participants also took part in a practical field scouting session, where they learned how to identify common pests and diseases, recognise signs of crop damage, and understand the importance of early detection and timely crop protection measures.

The day concluded with a hands-on onion planting demonstration, allowing participants to put some of the knowledge gained during the training into practice.

We extend our special appreciation to Omnia Zambia for partnering with us and sharing their expertise throughout the training. Your continued support in strengthening farmers' knowledge and promoting improved agricultural practices is greatly appreciated.

Thank you also to all the farmers and participants who joined us and actively contributed throughout the day. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

At AKTC, we remain committed to practical, hands-on training that equips farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to improve productivity, profitability, and sustainable vegetable production.

๐Ÿ“ข NEW PROJECT PARTNER ALERT
๐ŸŒฑ Driving Smarter Farming Through Innovation

The Zambian-German Agricultural Knowledge & Training Centre (AKTC) is pleased to partner with Agvolution GmbH, a German agritech company pioneering intelligent climate and soil monitoring solutions.

As part of this collaboration, AKTC has deployed the CLIMAVI smart climate navigation system on our 10-hectare demonstration field. Using patented soil sensors, CLIMAVI continuously measures soil moisture and temperature at multiple depths, providing real-time data that supports better irrigation, crop management, and climate-smart farming decisions.

By integrating innovative digital agriculture technologies into our demonstration fields, we are creating practical learning opportunities for farmers, extension officers, students, and agricultural professionals to experience how data-driven farming can improve productivity while using water and other resources more efficiently.

This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing climate-resilient, sustainable agriculture through innovation, research, and knowledge transfer.
We look forward to showcasing the impact of CLIMAVI during future field days, trainings, and demonstrations at AKTC.

๐ŸŒฑ Soil Health and Composting Training in Chongwe District ๐ŸŒฑ

From 2nd to 4th June 2026, the Agricultural Knowledge and Training Centre (AKTC) successfully conducted a series of Soil Health and Composting Trainings in the Kasenga area of Chongwe District.
The training targeted three cooperatives, reaching over 120 farmers from the area.

The sessions focused on enhancing farmers' understanding of the importance of soil health, including soil restoration and maintenance practices that are essential for sustainable crop production.
Participants were introduced to various composting methods and took part in a hands-on practical session on surface compost making, equipping them with skills to improve soil fertility using locally available resources.

As climate change continues to affect agricultural productivity, AKTC remains committed to empowering farmers with practical knowledge and sustainable farming practices that promote resilient and productive farming systems.
