FABRICIO COLOCCINI: “Being a captain in England is like an honorary title, the role is highly respected. It’s an award. I was ‘Colo’ at the club, I’d always been ‘Colo’, but the day after being named captain, people, the staff started saying to me: ‘Good morning, captain. Good morning, captain.’ I went one by one, to the masseurs, the kit men, the groundskeepers, and told them: ‘No, I’m still ‘Colo’. I was ‘Colo’ yesterday and I’ll keep being ‘Colo’ for everyone.’
There were details… the captain had his own exclusive parking spot, right next to the entrance, the best spot. None of the parking spaces had names or numbers, they all rotated, except for the captain’s, which was personalized. The coach’s spot too. When they make you captain, it’s because they truly trust you.”
Being captain of a team in England is no small thing; it’s a role you have to take on with great responsibility. Simply, 'El Colo'.
