CHIPATA NURSING STUDENT FOUND DEAD AFTER GOING MISSING FOR THREE DAYS

A 27-year-old second-year Registered Nursing student at Mwami Adventist School of Nursing in Chipata District has been found dead after going missing for three days.

The deceased has been identified as Luckson Tembo. He was discovered on Saturday, October 3, 2026, around 07:00 hours in the Feni Sub-Centre area of Chief Mpezeni in Chipata.

Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Robertson Mweemba, confirmed the incident.

According to police, the matter was reported around 09:00 hours by Maulao Village Headman, Joseph Jere, aged 60, after receiving a phone call from a concerned resident who had discovered the body.

Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased in an advanced state of decomposition.

He was later identified by his friends through his clothing and mobile phone.

Brief facts are that Tembo went missing from the nursing school on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, around 12:00 hours.

The school management, together with students, conducted a search within the school premises and surrounding areas but could not locate him.

His parents were informed and travelled to Mwami on two occasions to assist in the search, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

His body was eventually discovered by a cattle herder.

The body has since been handed over to the family for burial. However, the family has been advised to mark the grave to allow for possible examination should a postmortem be required.
