Zambia’s first-ever boxing medal at the All-Africa Games dates all the way back to 1965 — just a year after independence!

It was Jackson Mambwe, competing in the 54kg bantamweight division, who etched his name into history by clinching a bronze medal at the inaugural Games held in Brazzaville, Congo.

His victory wasn’t just a personal triumph it marked Zambia’s first continental medal in boxing, laying the foundation for a proud tradition in the ring that would inspire generations of Zambian boxers.
