📣 WOLSELEY CC 1 & 2 START 50-OVER CAMPAIGN WITH A WIN EACH

While the 1st team travelled to Paarl to face Drakenstein Edu CC 1, the 2nd team hosted their 2nd team at home.

In Paarl, Wolseley CC 1st won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted a strong total of 256/9 in their 50 overs, thanks to a phenomenal innings by Devanirio Ver Neel, who smashed the highest score by a Wolseley player in the competition — an incredible 151 off 150 balls, including 24 fours and 1 six. He was well supported by Cyril January (26) and Ravel Prins (22), giving Wolseley a solid score to defend on a flat Paarl wicket.

Drakenstein Edu CC never really threatened the target, opting instead to bat out their overs, ending on 205/9. Wolseley had chances to wrap up the game earlier, but still claimed a strong victory by 51 runs. Cyril January was the standout bowler with a brilliant 5/37, while Shaheen Pietersen, Rashied September, and Devanirio each added a wicket.

In Wolseley, the 2nd team also batted first and piled on an impressive 279 in their 50 overs. Duran McClune, on his return, top-scored with 80, supported by Leonard Prins (41) and Emmanuel Price (33). Drakenstein Edu CC 2nd team managed 203/9, giving Wolseley 2nd XI a convincing 76-run victory. Leneil Tromp led the bowling attack with excellent figures of 3/22 in 7 overs.

Well done to both teams — a positive start, with lots of hard work ahead as we look forward to our next fixtures in January 2026!

Wolseley CC 2nd team couldn't quite finish their T20 campaign with a victory as they lost their last game against Bergrivier CC 2nd by 6 wickets but none the less , they tried their best under circumstances. There were some stand out performances from our school players as Leneil Tromp top scored with unbeaten innings of 57 not out after opening the innings as well as Captain Diego Jafta with an equally good innings of 47 , narrowly missing out on his 1st Fifty for the club. Nevertheless well done to all our 2nd team boys , you did well and can only get better , let's gear up and get ready for the 50 overs.

🏏 Wolseley Cricket Club – Match Summary

Wolseley CC 1st XI secured a 4-run victory against Bergrivier CC at the Dal Josefat Sports Grounds Paarl after posting 144/8 in their 20 overs and successfully defending it.

it was a good collective effort from the team all round , with the batsmen posting a good and defendable total ( their highest of the season ) and the bowlers backing that up with a good performance with the ball not to mention the outstanding fielding from all the players.

Players that stood out with the bat were :

Ryan Ockhuys in only his second match for the Club with a very impressive 48 from only 27 deliveries including 5 massive sixes and 1 boundary, Enrick Tromp 17 from 13 including 2 boundaries and Rashied September 15 from 11 with 1 boundary.

The bowlers that stood out for Wolseley were :

Cyril January with figures of 3 for 30 from his 4 overs , Wilbur Pietersen 1 for 21 of 4 overs and Ravel Prins with 1 for 17 of 4 overs.

Tight and disciplined bowling restricted the Opponents Bergrivier CC to 140 as Wolseley CC won the game by 4 runs and make it 3 wins from 3 games in the Promotion League West T20 competition and advance to the finals to be played in March 2026 with the Venue and Opponents to be confirmed.

Massive congratulations to the players and management — Wolseley is one step away from lifting the trophy! 💙🏆
