Event #1 welcomed ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“ ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ, supported by an incredible team of ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ— ๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, who braved a particularly blustery morning!โฃ

The superhero theme brought out some fantastic costumes, capes and creative outfits. A special shout-out to everyone who dressed for the occasion ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธโฃ

Set amongst the spectacular mountains surrounding Val du Charron, the course certainly isnโ€™t an easy one. With plenty of elevation to tackle, runners and walkers were given a proper challenge from start to finish. But the reward is a route with stunning scenery winding through a beautiful landscape. โ›ฐ๏ธ โฃ

And, of course, our four-legged friends were very welcome too, with Val du Charon being a dog-friendly parkrun. ๐Ÿ• โฃ

The first event was made especially meaningful by the return of parkrun to Wellington. After a long wait, it is wonderful to once again have a parkrun in our community. A heartfelt thank you to the owners of Val du Charron for opening their incredible venue and allowing a new parkrun to take place here, we are so grateful.โฃ

A huge thank you also goes to our volunteers, whose time, energy and enthusiasm made the first event possible. From setting up the course to timing, scanning, marshalling and encouraging participants along the way, every role played an important part in getting this parkrun off to such a great start.โฃ

Our Event #1 roster is looking amazing, and we're incredibly grateful for everyone who has stepped up to help! ๐Ÿ’œ
We could just use a few more barcode scanners, particularly from our sub-30-minute finishers. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

Finish your parkrun, catch your breath, and then join us at the scanning area to help scan some barcodes!

All you need is:
