Pitbull Elite Barbell Pitbull Elite Barbell is a powerlifting club that was established in 2016, in Welkom in the Free State.

As we host our last 2 x Nationals Qualifiers in Welkom and Nelspruit this Saturday, please be reminded of the standard that RPC will never compromise on, regarding squat depth:

"Upon receiving the head referee’s signal, the lifter must bend the knees and lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is lower than the top of the knees."

Please also note that only 2.5 metre knee wraps are permitted in RPC/GPC competitions.

This is an official RPC Nationals qualifier, thus struct adherence to the RPC rules and procedures will apply in terms of equipment and refereeing.

**RPC WELKOM QUALIFIER POSTPONED**

Due to the change of the country's covid-19 alert level restrictions, the decision has been made to postpone the RPC Welkom Qualifier 2021 scheduled originally for the 10 July 2021 to a later date that will still be decided upon.

It is important to understand that our lifters and officials safety comes first and the last thing we want is to jeopardise the health of any of our participants, officials and technical crew on the day of the competition.

We also understand that, as a club, and functional gym, we have to adhere to the regulations put in place so that we can not only curb the spread of the virus, but also protect the livelihood of the clubs employees aswell as the functional operation of the club and gym in the foreseeable future.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

An agreed upon date for the Qualifier will be posted as soon as we have a realistic idea of when restrictions will be lowered.

Week 3, day 3 of the program and I am pulling serious amps today. 😴😴

5x5 for paused deadlifts and 5x6 for paused tempo benchpresses. I have found the paused deadlifts have helped me maintain tension in my glutes and hams while I continue with my glute isolation movements, these are great for pullers that lift out of their backs and struggle to getting their glutes involved in the deadlift.

I am bench pressing 3 times a week, and so far it has been rewarding and my body has responded fairly well. Higher frequency pressing in a program has been shown to improve your benchpress significantly however, it can have the tendency to trigger overuse injures. I have opted for "light" pressing on day 3, with a tempo paused variation added to the movement to load the tendons and increase the time they spend under tension, this movement will ensure my shoulders and elbow will keep up with the frequency and volume as the program progresses.
