Wat ’n ongelooflike dag by die 10de Nugent Memorial Run 🏅

Ons was weer 'n trotse borg en waterpunte langs die roete en het dit behoorlik geniet om die atlete van heinde en vêr te ontmoet en aan te moedig op die 16de en 23ste kilometer! 💪🔊🛻

Van die eerste atleet tot die laaste een het ons probeer om ’n bietjie ekstra energie, musiek en motiveringn langs die pad te bring 🙌. Ons taai Toyota Ironvan het vir musiek gesorg 🔥 en ons jong bemarker, Kaylené Carr, vir die dapperdruppels soos Energade, yskoue water, piesangs en geselsskap...

Groot respek aan elke enkele deelnemer wat hulle item klaargemaak het👏

Ten editions.

On Saturday, 197 runners crossed the line in Upington. Some were chasing a Comrades qualifier. Some were finishing their first 10km. One or two were quietly having the worst hour of their month somewhere around the turnaround, and finished anyway.

The road doesn't care which of those you were. It gives everyone the same distance and the same heat, and it asks the same question of all of you. Every one of you answered it.

Thank you to the people who make a race happen and never appear in the results:

The marshals who stood on a corner for four hours so nobody took a wrong turn. The water point crews who had cups filled before you got there. Our medics. The timing team. The families at the finish who cheered every single runner in, including the ones who came home long after the winners had left.

Thank you to Desert Palace Resort, who have backed this race into its tenth year. And to every entrant, who through their entry supported caring4Sight and the work they do restoring sight to people who would otherwise go without.

Ten years ago this was a small race in a small town. It's still a small town. But 197 finishers later, it's the North Western Cape's blue ribbon road race, and that's down to you.
