Race Report @ CJ's Raceway in Durban 2026/06/10.

Two classes raced - Group5 and LMP.

Some extremely close racing and some unusual outcomes. -- Read on!

Results. - Group 5 (four-minute heats)

1st Adam Bowen - 150,51 laps. 2nd Mark Jansen - 150,50 (so close!) 3rd Jose Thomas - 148,93. 4th Paul Schofield - 148,28.

5th Costa Psannis - 143,73 and 6th Keagan Bowen - 143,14 laps.

Followed by Adriaan Dreyer, Sid Bowen and Jason Blane.

An excellent excuse from Mark. "I can't believe my Mum phoning me in the middle of the third heat and my cell wouldn't stop!" Sorry Mark you were second!...

LMP - also four- minute.

1st Mark - 163,95 laps. (normal service resumed!) 2nd Adam - 163,75. 3rd Adriaan - 158,88. 4th Costa - 158,34. 5th Jose - 157,86.

6th Paul - 156,69 laps. Followed by Sid, Jason and Keagan (retired after heat 2)

The Top 6 all had median times (average) of sub 6,0 second laps, throughout these heats. Twelve months ago it would have been the Top 3!

Some top draw racing enjoyed by all!

Good to see both The Jansen Boys racing at Ecurie last night. I think Dad (Papa Smurf) gave them his No1&2 cars to race as the result will show. GT3 and P956 were raced with some great racing, by all, for a Friday! (three-minute heats, due to numbers)

P956 : 1st Jake Jansen 110,76 laps. 2nd Michael Jansen 109,19.

3rd Mark Jansen 108,25. Followed by Paul Schofield, Evan Strydom, Adriaan Dreyer, "Rynhardt," Aubrey, JP, Wiek Benade and Sarel.

GT3: 1st Jake 111,57 laps. 2nd Mark 111,10. 3rd Micheal 110,24.

4th Paul 110,06. 5th Evan 108,08 and 6th 108,03 laps. Followed by JP, Aubrey, Rynhardt, Wiek and Sarel.

Thanks to Leeanne and Adriaan for race control and some quick marshalling.

Two classes raced by ten people - P956 Cup & GT3 for four minutes.
Results.
P956 : 1st Mark Jansen - 148,15 laps. 2nd Adam Bowen - 144,75.
3rd Keagan Bowen - 142,34. 4th Costa Psannis - 141,71.
5th Jose Thomas - 139,81 and 6th Adriaan Dreyer - 136,23 laps.
Followed by Paul Schofield, Dylan van Rensburg, Darrin Quick and "Jason"... (one day I'll get his surname!).
Two very fast laps from Mark, on Blue & Green lanes of under 6,35 seconds were recorded on the night!
GT3.
1st Keagan - 150,46 laps. 2nd Adam - 150,39. 3rd Costa - 150,37.
4th Mark - 149,36. 5th Jose 146,66 and 6th Paul 146,27. Followed by Dylan, Adriaan, Darrin and Jason.
For a longtime, overall laps of +146 laps for a 16-minute heat has not been seen for the first six racers, there must have been some close racing.
We need to send Costa, back to Kroonstad, as he has comeback with a highly increased enthusiasm. Keep it going, Mate!

What a awesome Sideways GT3 event the team at JJK Raceway in Kroonstad hosted this weekend!! People joined from all over the country!! At the end we had 42 entries, and the event ran very smooth and it was LOTS of fun and serious racing took place! Kroonstad people, you guys ROCK! Juan Kleingeld, and team.......WELL DONE!

Results.
Group5.
1st Mark Jansen - 152,01 laps. 2nd Adam Bowen - 150,70.
3rd Paul Schofield - 146,84. 4th Costa Psannis - 146,62.
5th Jose Thomas - 146,27 and Keagan Bowen - 143,97 laps.
Followed by Darrin Quick and Adriaan Dreyer .
Well done Darrin on getting that Skyline sorted but also Jose and Keagan for also stopping this class from a one make class! (Top six finishers were three of each BMW M1's and Nissan Skylines!)
LMP.
1st Mark - 164,58 laps. 2nd Adam - 159,22
and 3rd Adriaan - 157,91. Followed by Costa, Keagan, Jose, Paul and Darrin.
Adriaan with another great podium (Mr. Speedy remarked, afterwards - HE will no longer be selling cars!)
Another great night's racing!
Four Pietermaritzburg and Three Durbanites going to race in Kroonstad at JJK Raceway. (Paul Schofield, Costa Psannis, Jose Thomas, Roy White, Fred Houston- McMillan, Tom and Matthew Black make up the party).

Race Report 2026/05/13 @ CJ's Raceway.
OK, due to a "Cardiac Event" I was unable to take part in Wednesday's racing.
As usual Costa Psannis took up the result photography with some unusual results, many thanks Costa!
Two classes Group5 (my personal favourite) and LMP were raced, both with four-minute heats.
Results.
Group5.
1st Mr.Speedy - 149,60 laps. 2nd Buddha - 148,90.
3rd DJ Jose - 148,40. 4th Wigz -144,94. 5th Costickles - 143,96 and
6th Pawn Star - 142,44. Followed by Big Guy, BamBam and Jason.
I'll leave you to work that out but the racing's getting closer!
LMP/IMSA.
1st Mark - 164,84 laps. 2nd Adriaan - 162,44. 3rd Adam - 160,35.
4th Costa - 158,19. 5th Keagan - 156,87 and 6th Jose - 154,17. Followed by Dylan, Darrin and Jason.
Well done, yet again, to the nearly untouchable Mark on his "double" and Another great run at second to Adriaan, relly getting in the groove!
