🌻 SunFlower Pilates Studio
Twenty-four years ago, I moved my couches aside in my lounge to make space for a class.
I earned just enough to pay Fundiswa to look after my children while I taught — and sometimes my clients’ babies lay nearby while their moms exercised.
It was humble.
It was real.
It was the beginning.
What followed was never about competing with big corporate gyms or worrying about new studios opening around us. Our motto has always been simple:
There is enough work for all of us.
We just need to connect with our clients.
And connect we did.
Over the years, this little lounge-class grew into a thriving studio filled with extraordinary people. Women and men who trusted us with their bodies. Who came through injury. Through pregnancy. Through rebuilding. Through seasons of change.
My drive to become a Pilates instructor was never accidental.
I had already completed a degree in Human Movement Science. I loved the human body — how it moves, adapts, strengthens, heals. Pilates made sense to me. It aligned with how I wanted to empower people: not just to exercise, but to understand their bodies.
And yes — I wanted to love what I did for a living.
Pilates has never disappointed.
By 2024, I had achieved more than I ever imagined in the Pilates world.
But there was one area I had not fully stepped into:
Pilates for athletes.
I had come close before. Life, timing, and circumstance had other plans.
Then — almost fortuitously — along came Tracey.
Strong. Quiet. Focused. (Until she sees you’re suffering — then she’ll crack a joke while counting slower.)
Between her and her family, sport runs deep. Experience. Discipline. Understanding performance.
And from that collaboration, something new was born.
🔥 SunSoul Pilates & Life
SunSoul Pilates & Life.
A merging of professional years.
Of trust.
Of shared standards.
Of trainers who genuinely enjoy working together.
The vision?
To take a well-trained athlete and, through a focused core series, enhance performance from the inside out.
SunSoul is new.
It stretches how we approach Pilates — while remaining deeply anchored in its principles and the essence that built SunFlower.
For me personally, this partnership is a privilege.
It is growth.
It is challenge.
It is the vehicle for dreams that are bigger than I could carry alone.
Twenty-four years later, from a lounge with moved couches to a studio filled with life; an exciting collaboration in a new business — my heart remains the same, I still love what I do.
