JACKS DIVE CHEST CC is South Africa’s oldest operating commercial dive academy, training divers since 1993. We present CLASS IV, III, and II COMMERCIAL DIVE TRAINING accredited by South Africa’s Department Of Employment and Labour. JACKS DIVE CHEST CC operates out of multiple locations alongside the coast, where we dive at various depths. Our lecture facilities and workshops are at 60 De Kock Stre

et, Strand, and Hermanus New Harbour. We utilise the latest training methods, and our certified diving equipment includes over 100 dive helmets/full face masks, 5 decompression chambers, and a certified wetbell. JACKS DIVE CHEST CC prepares divers for the commercial dive industry. We are a premium commercial dive training academy and provide first-class training to divers worldwide. A Diver Medic Technician (DMT) is a trained professional who provides emergency care to divers who are injured in an accident.

DMTs are often the first to respond to injured divers and may work in hyperbaric chambers.

DMT courses are intensive and teach advanced first aid and emergency treatment.

Courses cover topics such as human anatomy, CPR, and oxygen administration.

DMTs learn how to assess patients, monitor vital signs, and manage bleeding.

They also learn how to communicate with doctors and assist with decompression procedures.

DMT responsibilities -
*Provide first aid and emergency treatment
*Follow a doctor's instructions until more skilled medical help
arrives
*Communicate with doctors by phone, radio, or fax
*Be familiar with diving procedures and hyperbaric chambers
*Assist with decompression procedures
*Advise when to seek medical help

The Kirby Morgan HAT course (Helmet and Accessories Technician) is a training program that teaches divers and technicians how to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Kirby Morgan diving helmets, band masks, and related surface-supplied diving equipment.

In short, the course covers:

Design and operation of Kirby Morgan helmets and band masks

Disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly

Preventive maintenance and service schedules

Fault finding and troubleshooting common problems

Safety systems (regulators, exhausts, valves, communications)

Manufacturer standards and documentation

The goal is to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and compliant with Kirby Morgan specifications, and that technicians are qualified to support commercial and professional diving operations.
