Good day to you all! I am Sensei Délaine du Plessis. I started karate in 2015 under Hanshi Koos Burger, 9th Dan. I was awarded Shodan (1st Dan) in 2019 and Nidan (2nd Dan) in 2021 in Shotokan Karate. I competed at national as well as international levels during my karate career.
In 2019 I was selected for the national team for seniors to attend the World Union of Karate-Do Federation (WUKF) world championships held in Slovakia, and obtained a silver medal. I also obtained gold medals at the SASKA National Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
Karate is beneficial to one’s mental and physical health and improves the core strength of the body.
I see Karate as a way of life; it teaches you self-defence, confidence and discipline. I feel that people, young or old, who practice the Art of Karate become achievers and live life in a positive way. I believe perseverance is the pathway to success.
