The Stellenbosch Academy of Sport seeks to provide the environment in which to develop and train, in order to attain that 'excellence of performance'.The Academy offers an all-encompassing world-class facility, situated in the beautiful South African winelands of Stellenbosch. Facilities and services on-site include indoor and outdoor training fields, a state-of-the-art gym, access to leading sports scientists, doctors, coaches, physiotherapists and biokineticists, cutting-edge conference facilities, comfortable athlete accommodation and performance-nutrition catering. Important to remember that there is also a private physiotherapy practice at SAS. The physiotherapists are Johan van Wyk, Nadia Clenzos, Andrea Damon, Nadia Reuter and Chevoughn Dunn. They offer physiotherapy for sports injuries, pain and rehabilitation. The physiotherapy practice is part of SAS and they work with a biokineticist and strength and conditioning specialists. As a team of professionals they are able to manage injuries from day 1 to return sportsmen back into their full capacity with the use of our fully equipped gym, swimming pool and running track. Armand Venter and Werner Botha, the biokineticists also offers specific training on the Cybex machine to achieve full muscle strength and muscle balance. The anti-gravity treadmill is also used to help sportsmen maintain running fitness while recovering from injuries or simply to unload painful joints from high volumes of training as injury prevention. Hannes Prinsloo is a strength and conditioning specialists and he trains various sporting teams and individuals.
