GERRIE BERNER TENNIS FESTIVAL:
_______________________________________

This weekend concluded the annual prestigious Gerrie Berner tournament in Paarl.

Paarl Girls High U.19 and U.15 took part along with Hoërskool Stellenbosch.

The girls from Stellenbosch were grouped with Paarl Girls High, Waterkloof, Bloemhof, Paarl Gim and Nelspruit. After three days of intense competition Hoërskool Stellenbosch ended in 10th position overall.

Paarl Girls High U.19 played in a group with Stellenbosch, Bloemhof, Waterkloof, Nelspruit and Paarl Gim. After finishing 2nd in the group they played a strong Rhenish side in the last 4 but unfortunately fell short ending 4th overall.

Paarl Girls High U.15 showed incredible fight to beat all the teams they played to be crowned as the overall winners. The defeated Affies, Bloemhof, Oranje, Paarl Gim and Rhenish.

What an incredible display of dedication, perseverance and teamwork from Paarl Girls and their coaches! Paarl Girls High faced Paarl Gimnasium at the Tennis Interschools, and we are extremely proud to share that they have won 13 of the 15 matches played.

BREDASDORP U.19 TENNIS TOURNAMENT:
___________________________________________

Hoërskool Stellenbosch took part at the Bredasdorp U.19 tennis tournament this weekend and achieved excellent results.

They played in a group with Charlie Hofmeyr, Durbanville and Strand.
After the group phase Hoërskool Stellenbosch ended 2nd and progressed into the top 4. Unfortunately falling short against Parel Vallei and Dirkie Uys they finished in 4th position overall.

Paarl Boys High 1st Team took part at the prestigious Gerrie Berner Tennis Festival in Stellenbosch hosted by Paul Roos Gymnasium.
Playing at one of the biggest festivals the boys from Paarl achieved incredible results.

They played in a group with Affies, Oakdale, Hermanus, Grey College and St Stithians. After topping the group they met Westville Boys High in the semi final before playing Paul Roos in the ultimate Final.

NELSPRUIT GROOT 5 TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2026:

Today concluded the annual Nelspruit Groot 5 Tennis tournament in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga with Paarl Girls High and Hoërskool Stellenbosch participating.

Paarl Girls High 1st team played in a strong group with Oranje, Menlopark and HTS Middelburg. After ending 3rd in the group they played for positions 5-8 and ended in 6th position overall.

Paarl Girls High 2nd team were grouped with Hoërskool Stellenbosch, Nelspruit 1 and Garsfontein. Also playing for positions 5-8 they ended in 7th position overall.

Hoërskool Stellenbosch 1st girls team played in a group alongside Paarl Girls 2, Nelspruit 1 and Garsfontein. Ending 3rd in the group they played for positions 9-12 and ended 9th overall.

The 1st boys team from Hoërskool Stellenbosch played in a group with Menlopark, Paarl Gim, Garsfontein and Wilgerivier. Due to rain they shared 9th position overall.

DAVID SAMAAI U.15 TENNIS FESTIVAL:

Today concluded the annual David Samaai U.15 Tennis Festival hosted at Paarl Boys High. Edge schools who participated were Hoërskool Stellenbosch, Paarl Boys High A and Paarl Boys High B. After day one the boys from Paarl played against a strong Paul Roos side in the final but unfortunalety fell short placing them in second position overall.

Hoërskool Stellenbosch won one of their 3 group matches and ended in 7th position overall.

Numerous Edge Tennis players took part in the Mini Masters event held in George with 3 players all making it to the finals.

Nicholas Kruger who is in America for the Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl junior international tennis tournaments went through his first round of Qualifications winning 6-2 6-1 vs a top 100 American player.
