Berg River Marathon announcement❗️

A huge congratulations to Grant Conlon for completing his 24th Berg and placing 3rd in the grand masters Category. We are extremely proud of all his efforts and dedication as he trains through the rainy days and makes sure to never miss a time trial!

We are also immensely proud of Neriyah Dill who completed her 3rd Berg and placed 1st overall women! She has been an inspiration to so many paddlers young and old at Stanford Canoe Club and has recently moved to Cape Town to take a step further in her canoeing journey.

We couldn’t be prouder of these two determined athletes 💪

Wishing Neriyah Dill the very best for the 2026 Berg River Marathon!

This will be her 3rd Berg, and we couldn’t be more excited. She’s been on the podium for the last two years and has won every pre-race this season. We can’t wait to see her shine out on the river.

Neriyah started her paddling journey at Stanford Canoe Club at age of 12 and it’s been incredible to watch her grow in the sport. This year she moved to Cape Town to train at Zandvlei, and we can’t wait to see her keep pushing to new heights.

All the best, Neriyah. Go give it horns! 💪

CJ Mzimba took part in the International Sprint Regatta in Italy from 3-5 July. He competed in the 1000m, 500m, 200m and 5km in both K1 and K2 disciplines alongside his teammate Timothy. CJ gave his absolute all and we are all extremely proud of all his efforts he gave towards this prestigious event.

CJ-Racing was tough, the guys were stronger than me and some of them were older than me, but it was a great experience. I had a lot of fun and I am hoping to come back even stronger next time

Once again, well done to this incredible young star! We can’t wait to see him grow and compete in future events ⭐️

Goodluck to our incredible star Sibongeleni Mzimba a.k.a CJ, who will be competing in the Auronzo International Canoe Sprint Regatta from 3-5 July. CJ began canoeing with Stanford at the young age of 12, since then he has won National medals and even taken part in an international Olympic hopes event when he was a junior. This will be CJs first international regatta competing in the U23 age group and we are already extremely proud of all the dedication and hard work he has poured into his training. We wish him all the best as he competes on the world stage!

Stunning waters and even better sunsets on the Stanford River. It’s so lovely to see our Team Stanford seniors training alongside our juniors on these beautiful waters ☀️

Sometimes training can get pretty tough but it’s always better when you have a motivating training partner besides you…and the vision of bigger muscles 💪

Stanford Canoe Club turns 10! 🎉

This May we’re celebrating a decade on the Klein River: 10 years of paddling, growth, and community.

Take a look at the growth of our paddlers and coaches that have been with us since the beginning

What started with a small group of local paddlers has become a thriving development program where young athletes go from learning to balance a canoe to competing at provincial, national, and international level.

More than medals, it’s the friendships, support, and opportunities created for young people from all backgrounds that make this club special.

Here’s to the next chapter, and to every paddler whose journey is still being shaped on this gorgeous river. 💙
