To all Springs and Vultures Family,We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Springs Rugby Klubs President, Boeta Moodie.

Boeta welcomed us with open arms and always ensured that everything was in place when it mattered most. Over the years, he was a loyal supporter and a true fan of the Vultures, and his commitment to rugby and to people will never be forgotten.

We are grateful for the support, guidance, and warmth he showed us, and for welcoming us so wholeheartedly into Springs Rugby Club as we proudly represent Springs in South Africa.

As a mark of respect and remembrance, We the Saint Helen's Vultures will wear blue and yellow armbands during the final against Grizzlies in honour of Boeta Moedie.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, and the entire Springs Rugby community.

Message from the Club Captain🏉🦅

First of all, I’d like to thank the St Helens Vultures for yet another opportunity to lead this team to glory.

This year’s fixtures look tough, but we are proud to be representing not only our club, but also the entire East Rand. Just like last year, our goal is to remain dominant in the league and keep raising our standards.

Last season, the support we received was incredible — it kept us motivated and helped us put on performances that our supporters could be proud of. This year will be even better, and we can’t wait to see you all back next to the field, standing strong with us.

What makes this club so special is the diversity within our squad and the unbreakable bond we share. We’ve welcomed a lot of new faces this season, and already, in just a few weeks, we’ve built strong chemistry. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together once we step onto the field.

League rugby in South Africa is growing fast. It’s highly competitive, exciting to play, and incredible to watch. To all the youngsters out there: join your nearest club. League will not only test your fitness but also sharpen your skills, mindset, and understanding of the game.

As captain, my goal is simple: I want my boys to go out there, enjoy every moment, and do their job both on and off the field. To the new players stepping into league rugby — welcome. My advice is this: listen, learn, and take guidance from me and from the senior talent in this squad. Together, we will stand side by side, as one.

Message from the Chairman

As chairman of our club, I feel truly privileged to lead a place that holds such a special place in my heart. What makes our club unique is not just the rugby we play, but the brotherhood we share, no matter your background, race, your work, or where you come from, here we stand as one family.

To every team we face this season: you have our full respect, but remember respect is earned on the field. Rugby is about competition, yes, but it’s also about friendship and respect beyond the field.

It is unfortunate to see the Nigel Rabbitohs Rugby League Club withdraw, as they were not only fierce competitors but also true friends of the game. They make the competition awesome, and it’s clubs like theirs that keep this league strong. We truly hope to see them back again soon.

I must also say how privileged we are to have Richard Louw as our coach. He is an outstanding coach with more knowledge of rugby league than almost anyone in South Africa, and I am grateful for the way he works with our players. To every player: if you are working with Richard, listen to him, he will help you grow and make you a better rugby player than you are today. League is such an awesome sport, and what I’ve learned from playing it is that it’s very different from union. You may be good at union, but if you put in the hard work, you can become even better in league.

Looking ahead, I’m excited for what this new season holds. We have excellent coaches, a committed team, and a spirit that makes me proud. Our training has been strong, and our unity even stronger. My hope is to see more young players join us and become part of this journey.

Our goal is clear, to work hard, to aim for the top, and to play with heart until the very end. But above all, we remember that we do not play for ourselves alone; we play for each other, for our supporters, and for the One above, Jesus Christ.

Finally, to our supporters: thank you for always standing behind us. Your encouragement drives us forward, and we are proud to represent you every time we step onto the field.

And as we reflect on our journey, I can’t help but think of Tom van Vollenhoven, If Tom could look down on us, I believe he would be proud to see that we are continuing the legacy he built. As we step into our 31st year of existence, we will continue to honor that legacy and strive to carry it forward with pride and commitment.

Here’s to a great season ahead. Let’s make it one to remember.
