TAC-SUNDAY: THE H.O.T. Z.O.N.E - In Tactical Medicine —the Hot Zone is the immediate area where an active threat is still present and the risk of injury or death is extremely high.

​As per TCCC when you are in the Hot Zone, you are in the phase known as Care Under Fire (CUF).

In this zone, the environment dictates the medicine. The fundamental premise of the Hot Zone is that the best tactical medicine is fire superiority. Your primary objective is not medical treatment; it is addressing the threat and preventing further casualties.

​The boundaries of a Hot Zone are dynamic. It is not a fixed line on a map, but rather any space where an adversary has an active line of sight and effective range to bring fire or harm down on you and your team.

The 1-Treatment Rule: The only medical intervention performed in the Hot Zone is the application of a limb tourniquet to stop life-threatening hemorrhaging.
