✨Why Do I Sometimes Feel My Pilates Class More Two Hours Later?✨

Have you ever left a Pilates class feeling good, only to notice something interesting a few hours later?

💡You stand a little taller.
💡Your shoulders feel more relaxed.
💡You become aware of muscles you didn’t even realise you were using.
💡Your posture feels different.
💡Your body feels more connected.

As a Pilates instructor, I’ve heard clients mention this many times over the years.

“Why do I feel my Pilates class more now than I did when I left the studio?”

⌛️The answer lies in the way Pilates works.

Unlike many forms of exercise that focus primarily on intensity, Pilates combines movement, breathing, concentration, coordination, balance, and control.

During a class, you’re not simply exercising muscles. You’re teaching the body how to move more efficiently.

Many of the muscles we target in Pilates are the deep stabilising muscles that support the spine, pelvis, shoulders, and joints. These muscles don’t always create the dramatic burn associated with a hard workout, but they play a critical role in how we move throughout the day.

As you continue your normal activities after class—walking, sitting, standing, driving, climbing stairs—your body begins using those movement patterns that were reinforced during the session.

This often creates a heightened awareness of posture, alignment, and muscle activation🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻🚶🏻‍♀️‍➡️🚶🏽‍➡️

In simple terms, your body continues to “remember” what it learned in class.

You may also notice improved circulation, easier breathing, reduced tension, and a greater sense of physical awareness as the day progresses.

It’s not that Pilates is still happening hours later.

It’s that the effects of mindful movement often become more noticeable once you return to everyday life.

For me, that’s one of the most fascinating aspects of Pilates😊

The goal isn’t simply to exercise for an hour.

The goal is to move better during the other twenty-three.

Have you ever noticed the effects of a Pilates class showing up hours later?

☀️Why Early Morning Pilates Is More Than Just Exercise☀️

Not everyone is a morning person. I am☕️☕️

Give me the quiet of an early morning, a cup of coffee waiting in the wings, and a Pilates studio coming to life, and I’m in my happy place.

Over the years, I’ve discovered that early morning Pilates offers far more than physical benefits. It creates focus, energy, and momentum that often stays with me for the rest of the day.

As a Pilates instructor, I am often asked why I prefer teaching and practicing Pilates early in the morning.

My answer is simple: it changes the way I experience the entire day.

While Pilates offers benefits at any time, there is something uniquely powerful about moving your body before the world becomes busy, before the emails arrive, and before the demands of life begin competing for your attention.

Early morning Pilates is not just about exercise. It is about creating a foundation for the day ahead.

After several hours of sleep, the body can feel stiff and disconnected. Pilates gently mobilises the spine, activates the deep stabilising muscles, and restores movement to joints that have been inactive overnight. Rather than shocking the body awake, it creates a smooth transition from rest to activity.

One of the greatest benefits I see, both personally and in my clients, is improved focus. Pilates requires concentration, control, and awareness. That mindful connection between body and mind often translates into greater clarity, productivity, and presence throughout the day.

Morning Pilates also promotes better posture. Whether you spend your day teaching, driving, standing, or working behind a desk, activating the muscles that support alignment helps movement feel easier and reduces unnecessary tension.

Then there is the energy factor.

Many people reach for coffee as their first source of energy. I enjoy my coffee too, but movement provides a different kind of boost. Pilates increases circulation, improves oxygen flow, and creates sustainable energy that supports you long after the session has ended.

For me, the ideal morning starts with quiet time, prayer, meditation, and gratitude. It is an opportunity to prepare mentally and spiritually for the day ahead. Pilates naturally follows as the next step in that process.

The mindful movement, focused breathing, and connection to my body help bridge the gap between reflection and action. Only then do I reach for my first cup of coffee and step into the day.

Perhaps one of the greatest advantages of morning Pilates is consistency. When movement happens early, there is less chance that meetings, responsibilities, fatigue, or unexpected events will get in the way.

Pilates is beneficial at any time of day, but there is something special about beginning the morning with purposeful movement.

It is not about working harder. It is about waking up with intention, creating positive momentum, and investing in your wellbeing before the world starts asking for your attention.

The way we start our mornings often shapes the quality of our days🤸🏻‍♀️

For me, after quiet time and reflection, Pilates remains one of the best ways to start🧘🏻‍♀️🍀

Maybe I’m doing something right… 😊

A fully booked 19:30 Wunda Chair class on an evening session is something I never take for granted🧘🏻‍♀️

What a fantastic class tonight! The energy was incredible, the focus was there, and everyone left with a smile. Working with the Wunda Chair is always such a privilege — it challenges, strengthens, and inspires movement in the most amazing way.

I still love my job 😊 and teach from the bottom of my heart, no matter what time of day. Thank you to every client who shows up, trusts the process, and makes classes like these incredibly rewarding🤸🏻‍♀️🤍

Feeling grateful, inspired, and excited for the next class!🧘🏻‍♀️🍀

One of the greatest lessons Pilates continues to teach me is that learning never stops.

No matter how many years you’ve been teaching, studying, or practicing, there is always something new to discover — a different approach, a fresh perspective, a unique way of cueing movement, connecting with clients, or creating an experience in the studio.

I truly believe that as teachers, we should never reach a point where we think we “know it all.” Growth happens when we stay curious, open, and willing to learn from others.

This week I’m incredibly grateful to be in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, where I have the opportunity to attend classes at different studios, observe different teaching styles, and continue expanding my understanding of Pilates.

Every teacher brings something special into the room, and every class reminds me why I fell in love with this work in the first place.

Forever a student. Forever learning. Travel light🧘🏻‍♀️🍀

Still teaching in Riyadh, KSA 🇸🇦
Still deeply inspired by the authentic work of Joseph Pilates.

For me, Pilates has never just been movement — it’s precision, discipline, flow, and lifelong learning. Grateful to continue sharing this method, growing through it, and connecting with people through mindful movement every single day.

Always evolving, Always learning. Passion never stands still ✨🧘🏻‍♀️🍀.

☕️☕️This morning, walking back through the park to my apartment, I stumbled upon six newborn kittens - tiny, fragile, yet already moving with a quiet, instinctive coordination. Later, their mother appeared, calm, alert, completely at ease in her body🐈

And immediately, I thought of Joseph Pilates.

Pilates believed that to truly understand movement, we should study animals — especially cats. He observed how they stretch, rest, and move with complete efficiency. No excess tension. No forced effort. Just fluid, intelligent motion. In his words, the body should become “as supple as that of a cat.”

But he went further.

He questioned why animals, living in their natural state, don’t suffer the way humans do. You don’t see a cat that is naturally overweight. You don’t see them struggling with stiffness, poor posture, or the chronic conditions we normalize — because they move as they are designed to.

Cats don’t “exercise” — they simply live in constant, natural movement. Stretching, releasing, responding. Effort followed by complete relaxation.

Watching these kittens, only days old, already expressing full-body coordination, it becomes clear: this intelligence is innate.

As humans, we’ve just forgotten.

Teaching Pilates here in Riyadh, and then unexpectedly encountering these small, perfect examples of Contrology in the park — it felt like more than coincidence.

No mirrors. No cues. No correction.

Just instinct, alignment, and flow.

Perhaps the practice is not about becoming stronger.

But about returning to what the body already knows🧘🏻‍♀️🍀
